Work permit
What does it mean?
A work permit (arbejdstilladelse) is the authorities’ approval that you may work in Denmark. Citizens of the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the Nordic countries have the right to work without a permit, while others as a rule need one before they start.
In Denmark a work permit is usually granted together with a residence permit and is often tied to a specific job. SIRI processes cases under different schemes, such as the Pay Limit Scheme, the Positive Lists and the Fast-track scheme. Each scheme has its own requirements for the job, salary and education.
If you change jobs, you usually need a new permit before you start the new job. Working without the right permit can have consequences for both you and the employer.
You find the schemes, requirements and application forms on nyidanmark.dk. Only SIRI can decide whether you get a permit.
