Pay Limit Scheme
What does it mean?
The Pay Limit Scheme (beløbsordningen) is one of the most used routes to a Danish work permit for citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the Nordic region. The scheme is not tied to specific occupations — what matters is the salary level.
To qualify, you need a concrete job offer from a Danish employer with an annual salary above the threshold set by the authorities. The threshold is adjusted every year, and special rules may apply to certain groups.
The salary must be paid into a Danish bank account, and the terms of employment must match Danish standards. You apply through nyidanmark.dk, where you also find the current threshold and the documents you need.
If you change jobs, you usually need a new permit before you start the new job. SIRI makes the decision.
