MitID
What does it mean?
MitID is the shared digital login used by public authorities, banks and many companies in Denmark. It replaced NemID and usually works through an app on your phone.
With MitID you can read Digital Post from authorities, view and correct your tax card and preliminary tax assessment on skat.dk, join an unemployment fund (a-kasse), sign documents digitally and log in to your online bank.
As a foreigner, you can generally get MitID once you have a CPR number. You can set it up at Citizen Service (borgerservice), at International Citizen Service or through your bank, depending on your ID documents.
Authorities send important letters through Digital Post — including about tax and residence permits. Check your digital mailbox regularly so you do not miss deadlines.
Never share your MitID access with anyone. Scammers often pose as authorities or employers to gain access.
