NemKonto
What does it mean?
NemKonto is not a special account but a marker on the bank account that authorities use when they pay money to you. That can be a tax refund, housing benefit, student grants or unemployment benefits.
You usually get a NemKonto when you open an account in a Danish bank with your CPR number. The bank can register the account as your NemKonto, or you can do it yourself with MitID.
Many employers pay salary into the same account, and some work permit schemes require the salary to be paid into a Danish bank account.
If you change bank, remember to move your NemKonto so payments are not lost.
