Registration certificate (EU)
What does it mean?
The registration certificate (registreringsbevis) documents that you, as a citizen of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, reside lawfully in Denmark under the EU rules on free movement. It is issued by SIRI.
You do not need a work permit to work in Denmark, but if you stay for a longer period you must apply for a registration certificate. It is usually a prerequisite for getting a CPR number.
You apply on the basis of your grounds for residence, such as employment, self-employment, studies or sufficient funds. As an employee you usually document your employment, for example with a contract.
Nordic citizens do not need a registration certificate — they register directly in the civil registry with the municipality.
You find the exact requirements and deadlines on nyidanmark.dk and lifeindenmark.borger.dk. International Citizen Service can help you handle the process in one place.
