About the job

Do you want to work closely with the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration's top management and help translate political priorities into concrete results? In the Directorate Secretariat you will have an independent area of responsibility and a central role in the work with strategic initiatives, board support and cross-cutting coordination in an area that has great importance for food safety, animal welfare and consumers' trust in Danish foods.

About the job

In the Directorate Secretariat you will have an exciting job with independent and challenging tasks. You will, together with your colleagues, support the management in translating strategy and political priorities into concrete goals, actions and results. This includes, among other things, creating coherence between strategy, targets and deliverables in close dialogue with professional units and other staff functions.

You will be attached to a deputy director and a professional area, for which you will independently have the responsibility to follow, support, advise and carry out tasks within. You will thus work closely with the agency's top management, and you will have the opportunity to be right in the engine room when policy is developed and strategic direction is set.

Your tasks will include

  • Provide secretariat support to the executive board with a focus on delivering the agency's goals and supporting the political agendas.
  • Plan and conduct meetings, manage dialogue and coordinate tasks in your area, and contribute to strengthening collaboration, developing processes and ensuring progress across the organization.
  • Coordinate and assure the quality of ministerial and department servicing in collaboration with the agency's professional units.
  • Manage cross-cutting strategic projects in the agency, such as following up on political agreements and updating the agency's key risks.
  • Develop and maintain a broad network with the agency's many units, the ministry and other institutions in the ministerial area as well as external partners.

About you

To be considered for the position you must

  • Be able to express yourself clearly and professionally in Danish, both spoken and written
  • Have a relevant academic background, e.g. in political science, law or other social science fields.

In addition, it is an advantage if you

  • Have experience with board secretariat support, coordination and political processes.
  • Are interested in or have knowledge of the food and/or veterinary sector. Experience in the area is an advantage.
  • Navigate confidently in the intersection of professionalism, operations and politics and be able to translate complex issues into qualified ministerial and department servicing.
  • Can analyze complex issues and translate them into clear decision bases and actionable recommendations.
  • Have strong written skills and can translate complex cases into concise, precise decision papers and notes without compromising the professional quality.
  • Can take responsibility for your own tasks, prioritize among several concurrent tasks and maintain an overview in a busy everyday life with tight deadlines.
  • Thrive with both independent task responsibility and close collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Are proactive, outreach-oriented and good at building relationships, as you as area manager independently have dialogue with the units, plan meetings and support progress within the area.
  • Have experience from the central administration

About us

The Directorate Secretariat is a staff function reporting to the agency's director. We are part of a larger unit that, in addition to the secretariat function, also includes the Emergency and Crisis Management section. We have a good sense of community with humor and an informal tone, where we, for example, meet every Friday for a communal breakfast. We also often help and spar with each other, precisely because everyday life is often busy and tasks very different. With us there are thus good opportunities for both personal and professional development.

”I come from a more classic civil service position with my own area, own cases and own deadlines. It has been a huge and very positive transition to land in the Directorate Secretariat, where we basically have one common task: to serve the management, which we solve together.”, quote from Jakob, future colleague

In the Directorate Secretariat we currently are three ACs, three secretaries and four students, who together ensure effective and competent support and advisory to our management and the ministry. We are the link between the agency's many units, the board and the ministry, and we take pride in delivering high quality and competent advisory.

As an employee of the agency you will work in one of Denmark's largest agencies. We are responsible for, among other things, the smiley scheme for restaurants and other food businesses, for the official dietary guidelines for Danes and for healthy animals. All of which are tasks of great importance for citizens and businesses.
