About the job

Would you like to help make material from the National Archives' collections accessible to citizens? Would you like to work with challenging and complex case processing together with skilled colleagues? In the Egenaccess team we work to ensure citizens' insight into their own information and their own history - for example in relation to previously placed children. There is great interest in the area, and we need your help!

About the National Archives

With almost 1000 years of analog and digital societal documentation, the National Archives is Denmark's memory and knowledge centre for the development of Danish society. We collect, preserve and deliver original documents and data that support the needs of knowledge and the rule of law, and create new insights and understandings of our society. At the National Archives you will become part of an ambitious and modern organization.

In close collaboration with our users, we continuously strive to be an important player in the public digital infrastructure, so that our large amount of data creates the greatest possible value for citizens, researchers, businesses and public authorities.

About the job

As an academic staff member in the Egenacces team, you will be part of the Access and Egenacces Unit. The unit consists of 24 employees located at the National Archives' addresses in Copenhagen, Odense, Aabenraa and Viborg.

You will be responsible for case handling of cases concerning citizens' access to information about themselves under the provisions of the Archives Act. Your task will be to review the material found in light of the citizen's request and the Archives Act rules. In this way we ensure that applicants gain access to their own personal data while also keeping an eye on whether there are other data that should be protected (e.g. with conditions or extraction).

Since cases are often complex, we are good at sparring across teams, and as a team we take pride in helping each other, even when it is difficult.

In addition, we are constantly working on developing processes and workflows so we solve our tasks as efficiently and smoothly as possible. This is necessary because there is a great deal of interest in the area, which affects our case processing times. You must therefore also be able to work thoroughly, efficiently and with an eye for detail while also seeing broader perspectives and connections.

About you

You have a long higher education degree in social sciences or humanities. You have good legal understanding and experience with case processing from public administration. We also value your professional qualifications, including that:

  • You have relevant case-handling experience and competencies, so you can handle the cases with a focus on both quality and efficiency.
  • You are well versed in administrative law.
  • You have experience balancing considerations for multiple parties.
  • You read quickly and maintain an overview – even when cases are long.
  • You have experience with citizen contact and you can express yourself in clear and easily understandable language.
  • You work independently and are used to taking responsibility for your own tasks.

It would be an advantage if you have knowledge of data protection regulations, including GDPR. Furthermore, it is advantageous but not required if you have concrete experience reading handwritten materials, e.g. from previous employment or studies.

You have a structured and independent approach and use your professional skills to ensure fast, correct and efficient case processing. You value humor, open communication and sparring in everyday work.

About us

The National Archives handles questions about access to data with as much openness as possible. At the same time, we must safeguard others' rights to privacy. This requires secure case handling, where data from any state and regional authority as well as a large portion of municipal data come into play.

We prioritize good opportunities for personal and professional development, just as we place emphasis on a strong professional and social working environment, where there is good dialogue about task solving with colleagues.

With us, presence together with our colleagues matters a lot, and we believe that collaboration and knowledge sharing across the National Archives are essential for a good working environment. At the same time we want to ensure flexibility for our employees, and remote work is agreed on an ongoing basis between the manager and the employee when it is compatible with task performance.

It is important to us that you get a good start at the National Archives. There will be an induction program, where you will have ample opportunity to get to know your new colleagues and the organization as well as to get started with your tasks.

Salary and terms of employment

You will be employed under collective agreement terms according to the current agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Working hours are an average of 37 hours per week. We have flexible working hours and emphasize work-life balance.

The position is located in the National Archives' Access and Egenacces unit and the workplace is Kalvebod Brygge 34, 1650 Copenhagen.

The position is to be filled no later than January 1, 2027.

We conduct a security check.
