About the job

Would you like to help strengthen the cooperation between the Defence, NATO and Danish defence industry? Are you good at building relationships, communicating knowledge and spotting new opportunities for collaboration? Then we have an exciting position for you in the Danish Ministry of Defence’s Defence Material and Procurement Agency (FMI) in Ballerup.

About us

We are currently seeking an engaged academic employee who primarily will contribute to strengthening the engagement between the Danish defence industry and the Danish Ministry of Defence’s Defence Material and Procurement Agency (DMPO) with NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). Denmark faces a new threat landscape, where the complexity and speed of changes are amplified by technological development. A close collaboration between the Defence, the Danish defence industry and international forums is therefore essential for us to keep pace with developments.

The Office for International Cooperation plays a central role in coordinating and advising on Danish participation in international defence materiel cooperation as well as cooperation with the Danish defence industry. We are dedicated to serving the materiel director and supporting the Defence’s international ambitions at a strategic level.

At the same time we ensure that these ambitions are integrated into the Danish Ministry of Defence’s Defence Material and Procurement Agency in close collaboration with the Defence’s other authorities. We are working to strengthen cooperation and dialogue with international forums for the benefit of both the Defence, our common security and, not least, the Danish defence industry.

As a new colleague you will become part of a team that contributes to strengthening dialogue in the transatlantic partnership. Our section consists of civilian dynamic employees with a military chief, who work together in an environment characterised by good energy and positivity. We value professionalism and collegial fellowship highly, and there is always room for a good laugh and an informal tone. The pace is high, and we thrive on juggling several tasks at once and at many levels. We understand the importance of our work and therefore always strive for high quality.

We are currently undergoing a transformation toward more hybrid working methods, which opens up good opportunities for remote work once you have become part of our team. At the same time, business travel is a large part of our métier in relation to civil-military cooperation. We believe that flexibility is crucial to achieving the optimal balance between work life and private life.

About the position

The security-political situation has created an increased need for international cooperation on defence materiel. At the same time, it opens up new opportunities for Danish companies that wish to supply products and services to NATO.

Here you will play a central role in creating visibility of the opportunities that exist through NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). You will act as the link between the Defence, Danish companies and relevant business and interest organisations, where you help translate knowledge about NSPA into concrete opportunities for collaboration and business.

You will work in an area with great political and international attention, where you get the opportunity to influence development, build relationships and take responsibility for your own tasks.

Your main tasks will be to

  • Create visibility of NSPA and the opportunities the agency offers the Defence, Danish companies and other authorities.
  • Advise on NSPA’s procurement and tender platforms, including helping Danish companies with registration and access to relevant tenders.
  • Support the Defence’s use of NSPA in connection with materiel procurements, contracts and logistics service provisions.
  • Be a professional expert on the NSPA area and advise colleagues, managers and partners on the agency’s opportunities and use.
  • Build and maintain relations with, among others, the defence industry, business houses, trade associations and public authorities.
  • Disseminate knowledge about NSPA through newsletters, guides, intranet, presentations and other communication channels.
  • Represent the area at conferences, trade fairs and business events, including “DALO Industry Days” and other national and international events.

You will have a broad network and a daily life where advising, communication and relationship work go hand in hand. At the same time, you will help strengthen the cooperation between the Defence, NATO and the Danish defence industry.

About you

You have an academic education and preferably experience from a similar position in a agency, a ministry, a business association or the defence industry.

We would like you to have knowledge of NATO’s institutions, the Defence organization or the Danish defence industry. You have diplomatic understanding and can navigate the cooperation between different authorities, organisations and companies.

You are a strong communicator who communicates clearly in both Danish and English. At the same time you are willing to share your knowledge through presentations both inside and outside the Defence.

Additionally we value that you

  • Are good at building relationships and creating networks with different collaboration partners.
  • Work independently, take initiative and follow your tasks through to completion.
  • Are accommodating and have an eye for both your own and the office’s shared tasks.
  • Contribute to a good working environment, where we help each other and collaborate on tasks.

Employment terms

The appointment is made in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and several academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is scope for negotiating allowances. There is an employer-financed pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Ballerup.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment period.

As an employee you are obliged to perform service outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace support, humanitarian and other similar operations.
