About the job

A BIT ABOUT ADAM

Adam is a cheerful and approachable 12-year-old boy who lives in Svendborg with his parents, two younger siblings and the family’s sweet dog.

He loves drones, remote-controlled cars, Fortnite and everything that has to do with technology. He is also always up for a good UNO game!

Adam has cerebral palsy (CP) and is a wheelchair user. He therefore needs help with some of the practical daily tasks, including personal care, dressing and transfers.

He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once he feels safe you meet a wonderful boy with plenty of zest for life.

Adam thrives best with calm and clear-minded adults who give him time and ensure that he knows what is going to happen.

He can have difficulty reading others’ feelings and body language, and therefore it is important that you communicate clearly and meet him with calmness and patience.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you an early riser, and would you like a job where you have fixed hours and the opportunity to make a difference?

Then it might be you we are looking for!

We are seeking a new helper who can help give Adam a good start to the day and some cozy hours after school.

In the morning you help Adam to get up, get ready and leave for school. This includes, among other things, help with personal care, dressing and transfers.

The family has the necessary aids, and you will receive training in the tasks.

Adam goes to school around 07:30, and the remainder of the morning shift is used for light practical tasks in the home.

In the afternoon shifts the tempo is a little different. Here it’s about sociable time together, perhaps a game of UNO, a bit of gaming or a walk with the family’s dog.

Every other Sunday Adam goes to electric hockey, where your task is to accompany him. Therefore it is important that you have a driving licence and are comfortable driving the family’s disabled bus.

The most important thing is that you want to get to know Adam and be a stable part of his everyday life.

QUALIFICATIONS

You do not need to have experience as a disability helper to apply. The most important thing is that you are responsible, reliable and want to work with children.

We imagine that you

  • Are a morning person and reliable
  • Are calm, patient and clear in your communication
  • Have good situational awareness and a good sense of humor
  • Are physically able to assist with care and transfers
  • Respect the fact that you will be working in a private home
  • Have a B driving licence if you are to cover Sunday shifts

You will receive thorough training so you are well prepared for the tasks.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

This is a permanent part-time position. It is a position of an average of 26.5 hours per week , distributed over morning, afternoon and weekend shifts.

If you are not able to work all the hours, we would still love to hear from you! We are open to sharing the position between several employees.

So if you, for example, can only work in the morning or in the afternoon, please don’t hesitate to apply.

The most important thing is that we find the right helpers for Adam.
