About the job

Neurology Department, Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital

Would you like to work with acute neurology, stroke and thrombolysis in a department with high professional standards, a high patient flow and good opportunities to develop yourself as a specialist?

We are seeking a specialist in neurology for a position as department physician with a special focus on acute neurology, stroke and thrombolysis. The position is available for occupancy on 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

You will become a central part of our acute neurological function at Bispebjerg and will work closely with experienced consultants, junior doctors and nurses around some of neurology's most acute and complex patients.

Your professional focus

Your primary attachment will be

  • Neurological Acute Ward N10A
  • Thrombolysis function
  • Subacute Neurological Outpatient Clinic
  • Acute neurological supervision, including at FIMA and ITA
  • To a lesser extent neurological functions at Bornholm Hospital, physically or virtually.

You will become part of the team around the acute neurological admissions and patients with acute stroke. The department carries the thrombolysis function for the entire Capital Region every other day in collaboration with the Neurology Department at Rigshospitalet.

This means that you will have the opportunity to both build and maintain a strong profile within acute neurological diagnostics, stroke and acute thrombolysis treatment.

A daily life with both acute neurology and continuity

As a rule, a working week could include

  • 1 day in the Subacute Neurological Outpatient Clinic
  • 1-2 days with rounds and ward rounds on N10A
  • Thrombolysis function in day, evening or night shift (08-16:30, 08-20, 16-08)
  • Supervision at BBH, FIMA and ITA.

There is planning for approximately one night shift and one weekend ward round per month, as well as approximately six days annually with a function for neurological patients at Bornholm Hospital. The function at Bornholm can be physical or virtual.

The concrete work plan is organized with regard to both the department's needs and your clinical interests and development goals.

We are looking for you who

are a specialist in neurology and want to develop further in acute neurology.

We place particular emphasis on you

  • are interested in acute neurology, stroke and thrombolysis
  • thrive in clinical decision-making in a high-paced environment
  • can combine independence with close interdisciplinary collaboration
  • have a desire to supervise and educate younger doctors and medical students
  • actively contribute to a good professional environment, integrity and job satisfaction
  • are eager to take responsibility and continue to develop as a specialist.

You do not need to have many years of experience as a specialist. The most important is that you have a solid neurological foundation, professional curiosity and a desire to become really proficient in acute neurology.

What you get with us

We would like to create a position where you as department physician both take clinical responsibility and have the opportunity for continued professional development.

You will become part of a strong specialist community and get

  • great exposure to acute and complex neurology
  • close collaboration around stroke and thrombolysis
  • opportunity to develop a clear professional profile
  • responsibility for supervision and education of younger colleagues
  • opportunity to participate in research, clinical studies and CTU projects
  • opportunity to engage in quality development and the development of our acute patient pathway.

You will be attached to the team around N10A and the thrombolysis function with leading consultant Jacob Marstrand as your immediate supervisor.
