Cardiology Department, Aalborg University Hospital seeks a cardiology specialist for our echocardiography team.

Are you passionate about the cardiology specialty, diagnostics and echocardiography in particular, and do you want to contribute to and develop the echocardiography subspecialty with a special focus on valvular heart disease and interventional echocardiography, then it is you we are seeking.

The position is intended to be filled on 1 December 2026 or by mutual agreement.

The work will include other aspects of the subspecialty with inpatient rounds, outpatient duties and cardiology service in our intensive care units.

It is expected that you participate in the department's echocardiography on-call team with on-call duties. Participation in teaching medical students, junior doctors and other staff groups is expected.

Aalborg University Hospital has outpatient services on three campuses (Aalborg, Thisted and Hobro). The majority of function and working hours will take place at the Aalborg campus.

About the Cardiology Department, Aalborg University Hospital

The Cardiology Department has a highly specialized function in ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, valvular heart disease, thoracic aortic aneurysms, pericardial diseases and thromboembolism.

The department has one monitored ward with 38 beds. In addition, the specialty includes the Cardiology Laboratory, Cardiology Outpatient Clinic, Fast Track Unit and Cardiology Research Unit. We are a busy, innovative and efficient department with about 6,000 invasive procedures, 8,000 admissions and over 30,000 outpatient contacts per year.

The medical staff consists of 6-8 resident positions, 8 consultant positions, 32 specialists, including 2 professors. We are organized with four on-call shifts; FV and BV, fast track FV and BV and three different specialist on-call duties (ischemia, arrhythmia, and echo).

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment as a consultant physician in accordance with the applicable agreement between Danish Regions and the Association of Specialists. Applicants will be assessed based on the 7 physician roles.
