About the job
Are you up for taking responsibility for central IT systems and being involved right from the choice of new solutions to the way we work with IT in everyday life?
In the Danish Building and Housing Agency (Bygningsstyrelsen) we are in the middle of a major modernization of our IT landscape. A number of older systems must be replaced with new solutions, and at the same time we professionalize our work with system management, supplier management and IT governance.
Therefore we are looking for an Application Manager who can do more than keep track of his/her systems. We are looking for you who can create structure, drive processes and make things happen across IT, the business and suppliers.
You will be responsible for your own applications, but you will also play an important role when we procure and implement new solutions and develop our common processes and ways of working.
From procurement to stable operation
In the coming years we will both replace existing systems and implement completely new solutions. Among other things, we are moving towards a new business-critical system for the property sector and a new solution in the energy sector. In addition, you may potentially have the opportunity to work with the implementation of a new societal-critical system.
As an Application Manager you can be involved all the way: from the initial requirements and procurement through implementation and transition to operation to the subsequent management and development. In procurements you represent the IT professional and operational perspective, and when the systems are in operation, you are IT’s central person around your applications.
Most of our systems are standard systems that are developed and run with external suppliers. You do not have to be a developer, but you should understand IT well enough to ask the right questions and involve the right specialists.
You must both drive systems and develop the way we work
We are professionalizing our system management and common IT processes. Therefore we are looking for a colleague who not only can work within existing frameworks but also can help create them.
It could be, for example, to describe a common change process for our systems, create a better model for supplier management, ensure a good transition from project to operation, or clarify roles and responsibilities around a system.
Your tasks will include, among others
- Have the IT professional responsibility for selected applications and ensure that they function well in everyday life
- Be the contact point for the business and suppliers, follow up on agreements and get tasks closed
- Participate in IT procurements, e.g. by collecting needs, writing requirements and helping to evaluate solutions
- Plan and coordinate changes, releases and tests on your systems
- Help develop and describe common processes for, e.g., change, release, test and supplier management
You do not solve all tasks yourself. You work with colleagues in areas such as information security, architecture, project management, data and development.
Who are you?
There are several pathways into the job. You may have experience with application management or system management, but you may also come from IT projects, implementation, IT governance, supplier management or IT procurements. The most important thing is that you have a good understanding of IT while being strong at creating structure and driving tasks across.
You thrive on taking on a problem where not everything is defined in advance, and taking it from a “loosely formulated challenge” to a concrete solution. You are good at formulating yourself and turning complex issues into something others can understand and act on.
We particularly value that you
- take ownership and can drive tasks from problem to solution
- are analytical and good at creating structure and overview
- communicate clearly and precisely, also in writing
- can collaborate with business, IT specialists and suppliers
- are curious about technology and can ensure decisions and deliveries are followed through.
Experience with, for example, IT procurements, system management/application management, implementation of IT systems, supplier management, IT Service Management or testing is an advantage but not a requirement, and we will provide you with the necessary training regardless. Experience from a larger organization or from the public sector is also an advantage but not a prerequisite.
An IT area in significant development
You will join an IT area where a lot is happening in the coming years. We are realizing an ambitious IT and digitalization strategy, replacing central systems and at the same time building the processes and the organization that will support our future IT landscape.
This gives you the opportunity to both take on concrete responsibility and make your mark on how we work with IT in the future.
You will, among other things
- be responsible for central and business-critical IT systems
- have the opportunity to be involved when new solutions are procured and implemented
- have the opportunity to drive cross-cutting processes and improvements
- influence how we work with system management, supplier management and governance
- excellent opportunities for professional development and flexible working conditions.
About the team
The position is located in the Center for Finance and IT, where you will become part of the Operations, Support and Security Team.
We are a team with different professional profiles within system management, support and security, and we actively use each other’s strengths. In daily life we collaborate across, help each other to resolve cases and share knowledge about both systems and processes.
As a new employee you will have colleagues who are happy to share their experiences, and you will also have space to bring your own ideas into play. We do not expect you to know everything from the start, but that you are curious, take responsibility and want to learn. Together we develop the Building and Housing Agency’s IT landscape so it best supports the business and users.
Salary and terms of employment
