About the job

About the job

You will be a co-creator of the very best framework for a good everyday life for our residents at Birkelunden at the Special Care Home Skovvang.

Whether you are a recent graduate or have many years of experience is not the most important for us. For us, it is more important that you are passionate about becoming part of the already highly skilled team of multidisciplinary staff we have at Birkelunden. At Birkelunden we are one team. We go to work because we love it, and because we have a commitment to each other, our residents, and their families and friends. We are flexible in how we solve tasks and where/when we solve them.

We give space to your professionalism, help each other and make each other look good. We always start from the residents and their quality of life in daily life.

The good working environment and wellbeing on the department we value highly and expect that you naturally also contribute positively to it.

Birkelunden is a special housing unit with 25 apartments. The team is multidisciplinary and consists of skilled workers in all shifts and a stable good group of unskilled staff. We rarely use substitutes in the department. In the evening shift you will typically start with 5 colleagues and everyday life staff. You will get your own tablet and uniform.

We are looking for you exactly because you are a capable social and health care assistant with both heart and professionalism.

Skovvang is a newly built nursing home that, in architecture, interior design and decoration, challenges the way we previously ran a special care home for people with dementia. The house is built based on research and experience that it should be a home for people who need a special living form and dementia-specific care that ensures them the framework for a good and safe life.

The house contains 125 residences in total – 105 special care apartments, 20 short-term apartments for relief and assessment and a special day center. In addition there is a service kitchen and laundry. We have a large common garden where both residents and their families and friends and all staff enjoy good moments

We note that the position lies within the 24-hour area. Currently the service is expected to be primarily in the evening shift.

  • Good at observing changes in residents' condition
  • Wants to work with nursing tasks in close collaboration with mono- and interprofessional colleagues.

Why you should choose us

With us you get a specially tailored introduction program that ensures you have a good start at Skovvang.

We work with person-centered care and at Skovvang you will have colleagues who have specialized in dementia and who are ready to share their knowledge. You will thus have the opportunity to raise your competences in dementia, both practically and theoretically, including training in dementia, person-centered care, gentle self-defense and you will together with your colleagues regularly be offered supervision by Skovvang's psychologist.

At Birkelunden we have also been lucky to hire a group of wonderful people who come every afternoon/evening and help create star moments for our residents.

We work with 4-month shift plans to be co-creating in everyone’s wellbeing, and in time you will together with the other SSA's plan holidays and other days off yourself.

With us you have the opportunity to work at a special care home where everyone shares the goal of giving the Aarhus residents who are most challenged by dementia the best possible everyday life, care and support.
