Assistant Professor or Associate Professor at the Center for Pedagogy

Would you like to help provide our students and trainees with strong professional prerequisites to work professionally and in practice within the pedagogical field?

Center for Pedagogy in Roskilde searches for an assistant professor or senior lecturer for a permanent position with the aim of planning, delivering and evaluating teaching in the pedagogy education as well as continuing and further education programs. We are looking for an instructor who can strengthen the center’s competencies in e-learning and digital learning formats. It is a central requirement that you have experience with the development and delivery of digital learning programs.

In addition, you must be able to teach across the pedagogy education’s three specializations: day care, school/leisure, and social and special pedagogy.

Your profile

You will hold an important role in relation to teaching both in the basic education and in the continuing and further education area. It is therefore essential that you can see yourself in the following:

Special professional competences.

We especially emphasize that you have solid experience with developing, organizing and conducting e-learning and digital learning programs, as well as documented competences within digital learning designs and digital teaching and guidance forms. At the same time you have broad pedagogical insight and have academic prerequisites to teach across the pedagogy education’s three specializations: day care, school/leisure and social- and special pedagogy. We would like you to be able to document your competences through previous teaching, development or education tasks.

Practical experience.

You have experience of working in pedagogical practice fields within day care, school/leisure, social- and special-pedagogical offerings or similar. You can easily supplement theoretical material with practical examples, and you have a knack for incorporating the students’ experiences as a natural part of the teaching.

Didactic experience and competences.

You are strong in meeting students, where your teaching bears marks of variation, presence and engagement. You can facilitate and lead learning processes, and your teaching is characterized by being varied, present and engaging. Your approach to teaching is characterized by an ambition to include and a high professional level with an eye for creating different participation opportunities for the students.

Strong collaboration skills.

You are interested in being part of a learning community where teaching is developed together with colleagues, and where academic sparring is a fixed part of everyday life.

Focus on the core task and good study environments. You have high professional competence, and you see the core task as the driving force for prioritizing your tasks. You can also see yourself contributing to Absalon’s educational commitment, which among other things includes creating inclusive study environments.

Furthermore we expect that

• you have a master’s degree, candidate degree or PhD related to the pedagogical field and/or the social- and special-pedagogical field.

Your duties

As a teacher in the Center for Pedagogy your work is carried out within three areas

Basic education.

You join a team that plans and evaluates teaching and collaborates to develop the quality of the modules you will teach. You will also work across teams in connection with handovers between modules.

Continuing and further education.

You will become part of various collaboration constellations around planning and conducting continuing and further education programs. You should expect to teach at several different locations in and outside the region and at Absalon’s other locations. Therefore it is an advantage if you have your own car.

Research and development.

You should expect to participate in practice-oriented and innovative research and development projects.

You may in limited amounts be required to teach until 18:00 and on Saturdays.

Your colleagues

You will become part of the Center for Pedagogy with about 140 employees spread across Absalon’s five campuses. Your primary workplace will be at Campus Roskilde, within walking distance of Trekroner Station.

At the pedagogy education in Roskilde we are a dynamic workplace with about 60 skilled employees. Every day we work together to train tomorrow’s educators and to make current professionals and leaders more skilled.

• Employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement in the state sector.
• For you who are newly graduated and employed as assistant professor, an expected starting salary will be 40,994 DKK including pension. For you who are an experienced teacher and employed as a senior lecturer, an expected starting salary will be 53,938 DKK including pension. Depending on experience and background, it may be possible to negotiate a qualification allowance.

Depending on your qualifications you will be employed as assistant professor or lecturer. At Absalon the assistant professorship is a 4-year education position. We support this through Absalon’s lecturer qualification program, which all newly hired assistant professors participate in, and everyone is assigned a supervisor. To be employed as a lecturer requires a positive lecturer evaluation within the position’s area of application.

When employing lecturers who were lecturer-evaluated before the 2013 position structure, employment occurs under the previously centrally fixed pay and employment terms. Depending on your qualifications, balanced against the specific content of the position, a renewed lecturer evaluation under the current position structure (fast-track arrangement) can possibly be agreed.
