About the job

Can you make complex IT understandable for people who don't speak fluent technical language? Do you thrive both as a communications advisor on major projects and in situations where the pace increases and you have to keep a cool head? And are you eager to use your communication expertise on a task that is important for the Danish state's digital everyday life? Then you may be the communicator we are looking for at Statens It.

About the position In Statens It there are many people who know a lot about IT. Fortunately. They just don't always realize that the rest of the world doesn't necessarily know what a client image, a migration or a cluster is.

This is where you come in. You will ask the good and sometimes annoying questions, find the essence in the complex, and translate it into communication that our customers and users can understand and act on.

In short: You must be able to talk to people who know a lot about IT, and communicate to people who don't necessarily do.

Cyber threats, security and preparedness are an important part of our work at Statens It. That places high demands on both the technology and the communication. When the situation requires it, you must translate complex information quickly into clear and precise messages that customers and users can understand and act on.

You will have close collaboration with many parts of Statens It. This applies to the customer area, the technical specialists, management and the board.

Some days you work on a larger development task or an important project where you advise and integrate communication from the beginning. On other days there might be an operational disruption, and you need, together with skilled colleagues, to quickly establish an overview and ensure that customers receive clear and precise information.

You will, among other things, be to

  • manage customer and user communication about everything from development and changes to daily IT operations
  • advise colleagues and management on messages, audiences and communication
  • drive communication tasks in projects and development initiatives
  • be in dialogue with customers and handle their questions and inquiries

Some tasks may lie outside normal working hours.

About you We are looking for a colleague who has a communication-related, journalistic or other relevant education background.

You do not need to be an IT expert. On the other hand, you must be curious and dare to ask until you understand the material. And you must want to use your professional knowledge to challenge both specialists and leaders when a message can be improved.

You thrive with responsibility for your own tasks and with solving them together with others. At the same time you can switch gear when there are situations where time is tight and decisions must be made quickly. We emphasize that you:

  • have relevant communications experience
  • are a strong communicator with a view to the recipient's needs
  • can advise professionals and leaders and independently drive a communication task from idea to finished product

You do not need to be able to check all the boxes, but it is a plus if you have experience with or interest in one or more of these areas:

  • Crisis and emergency communication, where messages must be clear and quick
  • Political communication and understanding of working in a politically governed organization
  • IT and technology, e.g., operations, cyber security, cloud or networks, without needing to be a technician
  • Press and media handling, e.g., press readiness and press inquiries

About us Our communications team currently consists of three versatile communicators, one trainee and a manager. We work with everything from customer- and operations communication to advisory, projects, web, press and internal communication.

We take our tasks seriously, but not ourselves too ceremoniously. We collaborate, help each other and use each other’s different strengths. There is room to grow, room for good ideas and always someone to discuss a challenge with.

We often laugh, perhaps discuss formulations more than some people find reasonable, and share a common view that it is fun to make complex things make sense.

Does this sound like a job and a team for you? Then we look forward to hearing from you.
