Employment Officer for Hvidovre Transitional Prison

Hvidovre Release Prison receives inmates who are released from prisons or remand prisons and, to a lesser extent, inmates who must serve their entire sentence in a release prison.

The purpose of the work at Hvidovre Release Prison is primarily to support and motivate the residents to create a life situation that makes them better able to live a life without crime.

Hvidovre Release Prison consists of two departments: Kastanienborg and Lysholmgård. The two departments are located close to each other but are physically separated. We are seeking an employment officer for Kastanienborg .

There are 11 night shift workers at Kastanienborg, who have different basic professional backgrounds such as social worker and pedagogue.

In addition, there is an operations manager, an administrative employee, a janitor and a unit manager.

We need a colleague who can create meaningful employment together with the residents who stay at home in cooperation with the rest of the staff.

A portion of Kastanienborg’s residents are out of the house on a daily basis, whether at work or at school. The remaining residents ensure that the place is clean and tidy.

We therefore need someone who has an eye for keeping the “house and garden” in good condition, who can start smaller projects that either relate to maintenance, cleaning or renewal of Kastanienborg. Employment can also include activities, craft projects or training with the residents.

Our idea is that you are able to spot each individual’s competencies and are able to motivate these to be utilized, for the benefit of the individual as well as for the whole house.

It is therefore essential that you can see the potential in the individual, and ideally it would be desirable if you can create internal cohesion so that residents who stay at home feel privileged to be part of the work team.

It may be advantageous if you have prior knowledge of Denmark’s Prisons, and that you can balance support and motivation with the supervisory task of working with people who are serving sentences.

Your tasks

• Motivate residents to participate in the employment within the house
• Focus on projects with residents from both Lysholmgård and Kastanienborg (but not mixed)
• Facilitate relevant employment together with the residents
• Small repairs in the house
• Start up smaller projects
• Participate in tasks such as gardening, cleaning up and cleaning duties
• Be a bridge builder between residents and the surrounding community
• Understand purchasing of materials for use in the house and garden
• Minor operational tasks.

• are good at motivating other people
• have crafty skills
• have a good overview of projects and tasks, and can structure the process
• have a driving license, category B
• can work independently, and you can collaborate
• have reasonable IT skills.

We can offer you a job with many varied tasks, variation in the working days, influence on the content of tasks, and a healthy working environment where a good mood helps. Your working hours will generally be on weekdays during daytime.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is a permanent full-time role with an average weekly working time of 37 hours.

The position is to be filled on January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
