Bid estimator/quantity surveyor for earthworks and civil engineering projects - Gustav H. Christensen

As a tender estimator at Gustav H. Christensen you get the opportunity to bring your experience with calculation, finance and tender work into play on both large and small earthworks and civil engineering projects. Your technical understanding and ability to decipher drawings, quantities and tender materials will form an important foundation for finding the right solutions and preparing competitive bids.

You will play a central role in the bidding phase and follow the tasks from review of tender material and site visit to finished bid, contract agreement and handover to project manager and foreman.

You will become the company\'s primary tender estimator, with the director as the nearest supervisor and professional sparring partner, and you will have a close collaboration with the project managers. You will also have a broad external contact surface with customers, advisors, suppliers and subcontractors.

Your tasks

• Review of tender and project material as well as calculation and preparation of the bid
• Calculation of quantities, materials, machine hours, staffing and other costs
• Requesting, comparing and coordinating bids from suppliers and subcontractors
• Site visits to forthcoming projects and small surveying tasks as needed
• Dialogue and negotiation with clients, advisers and subcontractors in the bid and contract phase
• Review of the contract basis and sparring about prices, solutions and risks
• Handover of won projects to the project manager and foreman and follow up on ongoing cases

Most of your workday takes place at the office in Snejbjerg, but you will also go out and inspect the projects you work on.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who already have experience with tender calculation or estimation and therefore know the process from the tender material arriving, to the bid being calculated, negotiated and ready for handover.

You likely have an education in a construction technology or engineering field such as building constructor, diploma engineer or another relevant education. If you have experience with earthworks, sewerage or civil works, that will be a clear advantage.

You have good drawing comprehension and work confidently with numbers and finance. The calculations are mainly performed in Excel, while knowledge of CAD, digital project tools and AB18 will be an advantage.

As a person you work in a structured and thorough manner and keep an overview, even when several bids are in progress at the same time. You also enjoy dialogue and negotiation and are able to build good relationships with customers, suppliers and subcontractors.

Entrepreneurship Gustav H. Christensen A/S was founded in 1974, where the tasks mainly consisted of land development and smaller road works. One of the larger tasks was to help expand the main road from Tjørring and into Herning.

At the beginning of 1982 there were about 20 employees in the company. Today there are about 80 employees, and when needed, capacity is expanded through collaboration with skilled subcontractors.
