Fire Prevention Officer for Midtjysk Brand & Redning

At Midtjysk Brand & Redning we are looking for a colleague who wants to help strengthen fire safety and develop the emergency services of the future for more than 200,000 residents in Silkeborg and Viborg Municipality.

About the job

As a fire prevention officer you will have the opportunity to work with fire prevention, regulatory work and operational readiness. You will become part of a professionally strong team where cooperation, knowledge sharing and development are a natural part of everyday life.

It is however advantageous if you can join the incident commander on duty in Viborg (either immediately or after completing your education).

You will report to the Area Manager for Authority & Prevention, Line Porse.

Your main tasks

• Handle fire engineering case processing in accordance with the Fire Service Act and provide professional sparring to the municipalities' building authorities
• Process cases concerning risk enterprises and new facilities, including among other things in renewable energy
• Analyze various issues in the form of numbers and data or legal text
• Contribute to the coherence between preventive work and the operational emergency service
• Ensure a professional and solution-oriented dialogue with contractors, advisors, companies and citizens in connection with case processing and fire inspections
• Join the incident commander on duty in Viborg or be prepared to qualify for the function (please reach out to hear more about the flexible options we can offer)

We imagine that you

• have a background such as an engineer, building constructor or disaster and risk manager. You can also have a fire safety background or another relevant education – we see many possibilities.
• have passed the Danish Emergency Management Agency's fire technical trainings (BGU, BVU or BTU) as well as incident commander training. If not, you must be prepared to complete these.
• have an interest in construction, fire safety, legislation and regulatory work
• can communicate technical and statutory material at eye level and translate it into clear and usable solutions

Midtjysk Brand & Redning is a joint municipal emergency service for Silkeborg and Viborg Municipality. Every day we work to create security for almost 200,000 residents through our preventive, operational and regulatory tasks.

We have two central stations in Silkeborg and Viborg and eight peripheral stations. Together we cover a growth area, which places high demands on professionalism, cooperation and innovation. We must be a future-proof emergency service that develops in step with society.

Salary and employment terms

Remuneration is according to the principles of the “New Salary” and in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Local Government Denmark and the negotiating organization.

Remuneration for the incident commander on duty is on a stand-by basis according to the applicable local agreement.

The Authority & Prevention department has an office at the fire station in Viborg, where you are expected to report for part of the working time. We are currently located at a temporary station in Viborg until we move into a brand-new and modern fire station in about two years. There is also the possibility to work from home to some extent or from the fire station in Silkeborg if that makes sense for the day’s activities.

First interview will be held on Thursday, November 19 and potential second interview on Monday, November 23. Candidates progressing to a second interview will be given some smaller tasks related to the job.

The job is to be filled as soon as possible and no later than January 1, 2027.
