Become a pedagogical assistant trainee in Tønder Municipality – with employment on Foundation Course 2

We are seeking 1-2 apprentices for an education agreement with start of basic course 2 in week 6 2027.

With an education agreement with Tønder Municipality you are guaranteed an apprenticeship place and salary during both basic course and main course under the applicable rules.

What will you learn?

In the education you learn to work professionally and pedagogically with people of different ages and life situations.

You will among other things work with

• pedagogical activities and communities
• children, young people and the elderly within both general and special needs
• health, well-being and quality of life
• communication and relationship work
• activities, outdoor life and digitalization
• cooperation with citizens, relatives, colleagues and other professional groups.

In basic course 2 you work with fundamental pedagogical and health-related theory. The teaching is practice-oriented and activity-based, and you also come to 1 week of training .

Your path to becoming an educational assistant

You start at basic course 2 in week 6 2027 at SOSU Syd in Aabenraa. The basic course normally lasts 20 weeks.

When you have passed basic course 2, you continue on the main course to become an educational assistant.

The main course lasts 2 years and 1.5 months and alternates between school and training periods. School periods take place at SOSU Syd in Aabenraa, while the training takes place in Tønder Municipality.

If you have already passed basic course 2? Then you do not need to apply for this position. Keep an eye on Tønder Municipality's job postings in spring 2027, where we expect to offer an additional 4-5 apprentice places for the main course.

Admission requirements

To start on basic course 2 you must meet the admission requirements for the education, including having passed Danish and mathematics from 9th grade with at least grade 02.

You must also have applied for admission to basic course 2 at SOSU Syd in Aabenraa via optagelse.dk.

If you are 25 years or older, you must have completed a recognition of prior learning (RPL) at SOSU Syd or another SOSU school. A recognition of prior learning (RPL) can show whether you have the possibility of credit for parts of the education based on previous experience.

To start, apply for admission to basic course 2 via optagelse.dk and then apply to enter into an education agreement with Tønder Municipality.

• RPL, if you are 25 years or older
• residency and work permit if you come from a country outside the EU/Schengen
• documentation of work experience if you are applying for adult apprentice wage

Practical

• Working hours: Average 37 hours per week
• Basic course 2: 20 weeks
• Main course: 2 years and 1.5 months
• School: SOSU Syd in Aabenraa
• Salary: Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

You can obtain adult apprentice wage if you are 25 years or older and meet the requirements for relevant work experience. You must document your own work experience.

If you do not meet the conditions for adult apprentice wage, you can contact your job center about adult trainee wage.
