About the job

Care Pathway Coordinator for Cancer Packages

Do you have an eye for a good patient pathway, are you engaged, service-minded, responsible and positive – and can you see yourself with new professional challenges at the Department of Renal and Urinary Surgery, then you may be our new colleague.

About the position

We are looking for a competent and reliable health administrative employee, whose primary task is to ensure the coordination of coherent care pathways for suspected and confirmed cancer cases in the urological specialty. This is a permanent 37 hours/week position with no on-call duties, with employment from 01/12/2026 or as soon as possible. As a care pathway coordinator you help patients and their relatives navigate pathways that are often complex.

The Department of Renal and Urinary Tract Surgery is the only specialty department in the North Jutland Region that handles all forms of diagnostic evaluation and treatment of urological cancer. There are care pathways for a total of five urological cancer forms.

The diagnostic work is carried out in close collaboration with the Regional Hospital and Thy-Mors Hospital.

Your tasks

The position includes tasks such as

  • Coordination and quality assurance of cancer care pathways
  • Overall coordination for the individual patient’s care pathway
  • Telephone contact with patients and relatives
  • Ensuring good and appropriate planning and booking of effective cancer care pathways
  • Responsible for optimal use of outpatient cancer appointment times
  • Preparation, participation and follow-up at MDT conferences
  • Close cooperation with the department management and pathway managers to ensure the achievement of maximum waiting time targets, diagnostic and treatment rights
  • Ensuring and teaching cancer pathway registrations as well as cancer registrations
  • Auditing, documentation and analysis of cancer care pathways with a view to ongoing improvement
  • Participation in establishing and updating agreements with collaborating departments and specialties
  • Communication of information to the management system in case of overshooting cancer care pathway and maximum waiting times
  • Advising, teaching and disseminating information about cancer care pathways to internal and external colleagues and partners
  • Updating multidisciplinary instructions regarding workflows related to cancer care pathways
  • Participation in development and research projects within the cancer field in collaboration with relevant disciplines

You must also stay updated with the Health Authority’s guidelines on cancer care pathways and serve as a consultant and resource for urological patients in cancer care pathways within Thisted’s catchment area.

We expect that our new colleague

  • Has a health administration education and a passion for pathway coordination
  • Has interest in and experience with the diagnostic and treatment pathways of cancer patients
  • Has professional knowledge of and experience with cancer pathway registrations and cancer registrations
  • Has broad IT knowledge – including experienced user of Bookplan
  • Has good coordination skills and works in a structured and systematic way
  • Drives and supports good collaboration both within and across professions
  • Is good at communicating in writing and verbally and masters patient-centered communication
  • Will actively engage in the development of patient pathways
  • Is open, flexible and has a positive approach to change processes
  • Is development-oriented and ready for professional and personal development
  • Has personal presence and a desire to be a resource person for colleagues and partners

The task complexity requires insight into the urological specialty as well as the department’s patient pathways. We value flexibility and openness to both daily routine tasks and new tasks – and a quality-conscious, positive and agile approach to work.

Your new team and work environment

You will become part of a multidisciplinary team of three care pathway coordinators, consisting of two health administrative staff and a nurse. In addition, you will be part of the joint secretariat, which comprises 17 dedicated medical secretaries, SAK students and the health administrative chief.

In the secretariat we meet each other with respect, integrity and curiosity, we speak openly and constructively, and we learn from each other and invest in skills development. Humor, helpfulness and shared responsibility are a natural part of everyday life. Our vision is simple: Different as people – united by the task.

We create a strong and safe working community where diversity is a strength, and where we, through proper communication, curiosity and shared responsibility, succeed with the core task.
