Caseworkers for the Operations Section in the Economy and Operations Staff of the Defence Command

Would you like to help develop and influence the Danish Armed Forces' planning and management? The Finance and Operations Staff is therefore now seeking two new case handlers for the Operations Section, where you will become the case handler for one or more of the Defense Command's authorities. In addition, you will take on other areas of responsibility based on your branch background as well as the skills and qualifications you possess.

About us

The Operations Section (DS) is primarily responsible for the Defense Command's planning as well as the operational management of the operating year + 2 years. This involves preparing, updating, synchronizing and following up on the Defense Command's planning documents in the form of planning foundations and dimensioning foundations in cooperation with the Operations Staff and with the involvement of the services and commands.

The Operations Section is part of the Finance and Operations Staff (OD). OD together with the Development and Planning Section (UP), Operations Staff (OP) and the Management Secretariat (LE) form the Defence Staff. OD is generally responsible for all cross-cutting operational matters that do not concern force deployment or development and acts as a link between the Defense Command's services/commands/authorities, the supporting agencies and the Defense leadership as well as the Ministry of Defence's department.

OD consists of a leadership element, a Control Division and the Business Controlling Department. The Operations Section (DS) is placed in the Control Division, which together with the Coordination and Control Section, Establishments Section and the Audit and Compliance Section focuses on the Defense Command's internal governance, prioritization and planning.

We are a section where the tone is informal, and where there is great flexibility with regard to working hours, presence and teleworking.

About the positions

Two positions are offered, placed in the Operations Section, which consists of a section chief and 7 case handlers.

Two positions are currently located in Copenhagen (HK9) and 6 are located in Karup. The vacant positions have service location in Karup.

As a starting point, you will be assigned responsibility for one or more NIV II authorities. As a government/agency case handler you will be expected to initiate the ongoing planning and operational management. The positions thus place great demands on you to be outward-looking and engaged and to involve case handlers from all relevant authorities in a timely manner.

In addition to the agency-specific aspects, a typical day as a case handler could also include preparing task requests to other staff/commands/authorities, quality assurance of received products, preparing analyses, handling hearing responses, preparing case briefs for Defense leadership or preparing hand files and briefings for use in ad hoc meetings with Defense leadership, the Chief of Defense’s steering forum or similar.

The positions are advertised as both military and civilian appointments.

About you

You preferably have experience with similar tasks and may also have worked in a similar organization to ours.

We imagine that you have a relevant education in administration, governance and organization at a master's level. The crucial point is, however, that through education and experience you have developed strong competencies in analysis, management support and advisory functions.

To succeed in the position, it is important

• That you are motivated and interested in dealing with governance and planning at a business-strategic level.
• You are not afraid to stand by your recommendations, even if it may have noticeable consequences for force production, deployment capability or task execution at services and commands.
• One of your most important qualifications is your holistic view, where you are able to see cases across the Defense Command's authorities, including involving the necessary knowledge in, among other things, material conditions, establishment conditions, personnel conditions, economy, etc., as well as seeing the case's connections to other cases and processes.
• You are change-ready, development-oriented and contribute with improvement proposals to the governance area and the section's methods of work.
• You are strong both analytically and processually, and you work independently and responsibly.
• You are someone who can juggle many irons in the fire at the same time.
• You are a good and precise communicator in both written and spoken form.

Employment terms

Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement at any given time.

If you are an academic employee you will be employed under the current Academic Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

If you have a clerical training or another relevant education you will be employed under the current Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The Public Sector (OAO-S Collective Agreement) and the organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT staff.

Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is an opportunity for negotiation of allowances. There is a employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

As an employee you are obliged to perform service outside the country, including at units in international operations with the aim of participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace building, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Your fixed service location is Karup Air Station.
