About the job

Would you lead the acute orthopedic surgery and help develop a department with high professional standards, strong collaboration and the patient at the center?

We are seeking a specialist in orthopedic surgery who will take on leadership responsibility and help develop our acute area. You may be an experienced leader or at the threshold of your first formal leadership position. The most important thing is that you want to set direction, inspire commitment and translate ambitions into concrete improvements. You may be motivated by taking responsibility, setting direction and achieving results together with others, and have ambitions on behalf of patients, staff and the department.

With us you will have the opportunity to influence both daily operations, professional development and the future of acute orthopedic surgery. We base our leadership on professionalism, care and prudence – and on a fundamental belief that the best results are created together.

Your leadership role

As Chief Consultant you will have overall responsibility for the medical, personnel and organizational development of the Acute Area of the Orthopedic Department. You will become a central part of the department's leadership and play a key role in ensuring well-functioning acute orthopedic surgery with high quality, cohesive patient pathways and a good working environment. You will have direct personnel responsibility for the area’s specialists and a central role in setting direction, developing professional standards and ensuring smooth operations.

You will become part of a department in development where the implementation of the new health reform, strengthening of clinical quality and a systematic approach to evidence-based practice will be central focus areas. You will help translate the new frameworks and ambitions into concrete improvements for patients, staff and collaborators.

Strategic leadership and professional development

You actively contribute to translating the strategies of North Zealand Hospital and the Region into concrete actions in everyday life. In the coming years you will have an important role in supporting the implementation of the health reform and developing acute orthopedic surgery in step with new demands and opportunities.

You work purposefully to strengthen professional quality and promote evidence-based practice so that new knowledge and documented effect are more consistently translated into clinical practice. You create frameworks for professional sparring, learning and quality development and support a culture where we continuously evaluate our efforts and improve treatment.

Staff management and collaboration

You view employees as the department's most important resource. With clarity, presence and trust you create direction and engagement, while supporting each employee's professional and personal development.

You prioritize well-being, a healthy working environment and a culture where employees take responsibility, share knowledge and collaborate across disciplines. You can handle different perspectives and interests and manage to create a common direction, even when tasks are complex and the frameworks change.

You have personnel responsibility for the specialists in the acute area and must create the conditions for a strong professional community with clear direction, a high level of trust and a focus on development. You support each specialist's professional and personal development and actively work for well-being, engagement and a good working environment.

You manage to bring staff together around common goals and create followership through clear communication, involvement and trusting relationships. You work closely with the department's other leaders and relevant partners across disciplines and sectors.

Operations leadership and results

You have the overall responsibility for the department's wound care and infection section, the trauma section, the medical part of the emergency department, the department's two inpatient wards and the acute surgical capacity.

You ensure an overview of activity, capacity, quality and service targets and work systematically to create a stable and well-functioning operation. You can prioritize, make decisions and act when the situation requires, while keeping an eye on long-term development needs.

You contribute to a learning organization where experiences are translated into improvements, and where clinical quality, patient safety and appropriate resource use are natural parts of daily leadership.

Who are you?

We are looking for a specialist in orthopedic surgery who wants to take on leadership responsibility and help develop acute orthopedic surgery. You may have solid leadership experience, but the most important thing is that you have the motivation and potential to succeed in a leadership role.

We emphasize that you

  • are interested in leadership and want to take responsibility for professional development, staff and operations
  • can build relationships characterized by trust, respect and clear communication
  • can motivate and develop staff and create well-being as well as a strong professional community
  • are decisive and action-oriented and can maintain an overview in a complex daily life
  • are interested in quality development and translating evidence and new knowledge into clinical practice
  • have a holistic view and thrive with interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration
  • meet patients, relatives and colleagues with care, prudence and respect.

You do not need to have tried everything before. We place importance on your professional credibility, your ability to create followership and your desire to develop yourself as a leader. The essential thing is that you have the courage to take responsibility, can navigate complexity and want to make a difference for both patients and staff.

Who are we?

The Orthopedic Department at North Zealand Hospital is a large and broadly based department, responsible for orthopedic treatment in the North planning area. The department treats both children and adults and covers a number of specialized areas, including trauma, alloplastic surgery, hand surgery, sports medicine, shoulder and elbow surgery, wound and infection surgery, tumor surgery as well as foot and ankle surgery.

We are a department with high activity, broad professional scope and a strong educational environment. We continuously work to develop our professionalism, strengthen collaboration across disciplines and create cohesive, high-quality patient pathways.

Your place in the management

Together with the department management and the other leaders you will contribute to the department's overall strategic development, ensure coherence between the three areas and create joint solutions across professional and organizational boundaries.

You report to the department management and will have the opportunity to influence both the acute section's development and the department's overall direction.
