About the job

Would you like to help ensure and further develop highly specialized patient pathways for children and adolescents – and do you have solid clinical experience, thrive in an active clinical daily life, and want to play a central role in the department's daily operations and professional development?

We are seeking a chief physician with responsibility for the department's pediatric team. You will have a central role in both clinical production and the ongoing development of the department's investigations and patient pathways for children and young people. The position is to be filled on 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About the position

As chief physician with responsibility for the pediatric team, you will have the overarching medical responsibility for the department's nuclear medicine and physiologic examinations of children and adolescents. You will become a key player in the interdisciplinary collaboration with, among others, pediatric specialties, anesthesiology departments, radiology and other partners at Rigshospitalet.

In 2027, Mary Elizabeth's Hospital will open and the department will support diagnostic offerings both there and in its own department.

We are seeking an experienced clinician who thrives close to patients, colleagues, and daily operations. A substantial part of the work will take place in clinical production, where you are expected to be visible, accessible, and actively contribute to solving the department's core tasks.

The position entails a significant clinical responsibility with patient intake, protocol selection, description and interpretation of examinations, participation in multidisciplinary conferences, as well as clinical advice to referring departments and close collaboration with the departments at Mary Elizabeth's Hospital. You are also expected to contribute to supervision and competence development of junior doctors and other staff in the department.

The department has extensive activity in PET/CT, PET/MR and theranostics. Therefore, we want a chief physician with broad experience in clinical physiology and nuclear medicine, including modern PET diagnostics and preferably experience with theranostic patient pathways. Research, innovation, and quality development are integrated parts of the department's work, but the primary function of the position is clinical.

Your core tasks

  • Have the medical responsibility for the department's pediatric team.
  • Ensure high quality and coherence in the care pathways for children and adolescents.
  • Actively participate in daily clinical operations, including intake, protocol selection, description of examinations and clinical conferences.
  • Contribute to development and quality assurance of the department's PET activities in areas such as oncology, pediatrics and theranostics.
  • Assist in the examination and follow-up of patients in theranostic pathways.
  • Be a visible professional sparring partner for younger doctors, bioanalysts, radiographers, physicists and other staff.
  • Contribute to strong interdisciplinary collaboration both within the department and with the hospital's clinical specialties.
  • Contribute to research, quality development and implementation of new examination and treatment options within the specialty.

Qualifications and profile

We are seeking a specialist in Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine with solid clinical experience and broad knowledge of the specialty's areas of work.

You must be an experienced and well-founded clinician with an interest in daily patient-centered operations and have substantial experience with nuclear medicine diagnostics and PET imaging. Additionally, the position will require interest in or experience with theranostics and the interdisciplinary patient pathways that the field entails. It goes without saying that experience with and interest in pediatric patient pathways is a prerequisite.

The position requires good collaborative skills and you should contribute positively to the professional and social working environment in the department. An academic degree and documented research activity is an advantage but not a requirement.

We envisage a chief physician who is motivated by clinical operation, close interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of good patient pathways, and who wishes to spend a substantial part of their working time in daily clinical practice.

About the department

Department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine has three sections with clinical functions. In addition, the department houses a cyclotron and radiochemistry unit as well as a research unit with both preclinical and clinical research.

The department is among the leading in the Nordic countries within advanced PET imaging, PET/MR and theranostics. We handle a number of highly specialized functions and have close collaboration with Rigshospitalet's clinical specialties regarding complex patient pathways, including children and young people.

We place emphasis on high professional quality, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, research and innovation. You will become part of a dedicated specialist physician college with good opportunities for both professional and personal development.
