About the job

Clinical Instructor in Physiotherapy

Herlev and Gentofte Hospital – Herlev Campus

We are seeking a clinical instructor in physiotherapy for a permanent position of 37 hours per week with start date January 1, 2027.

Do you want to educate the next generation of physiotherapists and at the same time be part of a strong professional and interdisciplinary environment? Do you thrive on creating a safe learning environment where students can link theory and clinical practice? Then you may be the person we are looking for.

About the position

You will become part of the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, with your primary duties at the Herlev campus. We currently provide clinical teaching to physiotherapy students on 4th and 5th semesters, but contracts are negotiated continuously and may change, also as a result of the upcoming Study Reform for 2027.

As a clinical instructor you will be responsible for planning, conducting and evaluating teaching programs, as well as advising and supervising the students in their clinical work. You support the students in translating theory into practice, developing their clinical reasoning and gradually taking more responsibility for their own learning and task-solving.

You will work, among other things, with observation, guidance, feedback and evaluation and tailor your supervision to each student’s level and learning needs. You must be able to create a safe learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, trying things out and developing their clinical reasoning.

The students are associated with different specialties at Herlev Hospital

  • Neurology
  • Oncology/Acute Care
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • The medical area

You will therefore have broad contact with both physiotherapy specialties and interdisciplinary collaborators and work closely with the clinical physiotherapists to create coherence between daily practice and the students’ learning objectives.

You will become part of a team with another clinical instructor in physiotherapy and a clinical instructor in occupational therapy at Herlev, as well as a clinical instructor in physiotherapy at Gentofte. We actively use one another for professional sparring and development of teaching.

Teaching and clinical work

The position alternates between teaching and clinical physiotherapy. In periods without students you will participate in clinical operations across the department’s groups. The extent will vary as needed and can be either part-time or full-time, including on-call work. In addition to the clinical teaching, the department also carries out health promotion tasks for hospital staff, therefore you will also become part of this work, mainly in the form of individual consultations and group training. You should therefore be eager to both teach and continue to be part of clinical physiotherapy.

We expect that you

  • Are a trained physiotherapist and have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
  • It is advantageous if you have the clinical supervision module
  • Have good pedagogical and communication skills
  • Can create a safe learning environment and provide constructive feedback
  • Can observe and assess the student’s clinical learning process
  • Work in a structured and independent manner while actively participating in a team
  • Are willing to participate in clinical operations when the teaching task is not occupying

It is an advantage if you have experience as a clinical instructor or knowledge of the hospital sector, but it is not a requirement. It is also not required that you have experience from the specialties where we have students.

We offer

  • A varied position with both clinical teaching and physiotherapy
  • A close professional community with other clinical instructors
  • Opportunity to shape and develop the clinical teaching
  • A broad contact surface to physiotherapy specialties and interdisciplinary collaborators

Herlev and Gentofte Hospital operates under the vision Well Treated – professionally well treated, well treated as a patient and relatives, and well treated as an employee.

Employment terms

The position is permanent, 37 hours per week, with start date January 1, 2027.

Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement for non-managerial staff concluded between Danish Physiotherapists and Regionernes Lønnings- og Takstnævn, in accordance with the position as a clinical instructor. .
