About the job

Do you want to work with exciting compressed air systems on naval ships and Defence installations on land? Would you like to be part of a friendly workshop with steady and good colleagues? Are you an electrician, ship fitter, mechanic or do you have a black journeyman’s certificate and are you hands-on, then apply for the position as our new compressed air technician.

About us

The Maintenance Area Frederikshavn is part of the Defence Maintenance Service and is located at the Flotilla Station Frederikshavn. The Maintenance Area Frederikshavn has 4 subordinate workshops and a Operating and Support Element.

The Refrigeration and Pneumatics Workshop is the smallest of the 6 workshops and consists of 16 technicians, 1 planner and 2 workshop supervisors.

The workshop is a workplace with safe limits and visible leadership. We mainly work in pairs and are permanently attached to the workshop.

As colleagues we have a good and trusting tone and we are interested in one another. This means, among other things, that we greet each other every morning. Every Friday we set aside time to eat bread rolls together.

You typically have flexible working hours, your pension scheme is employer-funded and your lunch break is part of the working day, so you can balance your private life as well.

About the position

The work is based in the workshop. Here you work on tasks on ships that are at the naval station and on smaller tasks where equipment can be sent to the workshop from other places in the kingdom. Other tasks require you to travel.

The tasks are all related to service, repair and new installation of compressed air systems. There is no formal education for this, so the first year will involve on-the-job training and course work.

The installations we work with range from small workshop compressors to starting air systems for ships, diving air and breathing air for masks and tanks. It includes both screw and piston compressors and various tank and pipe systems.

You should expect overtime and travel in the position up to 1 week per month. But this is done with great flexibility, both for planning the work and the subsequent time off.

About you

You are an electrician, ship fitter, mechanic or have a black journeyman’s certificate and are hands-on. You are technically oriented, and you understand how to deliver good service and find good solutions for our customers. You take responsibility for the tasks you are assigned and are sufficiently independent to contact the customer prior to completing the task and can engage in dialogue with and guide the customer.

As a person, you are a nice person and you are humble about the task. Likewise, you take pride in performing a good piece of work.

Employment terms

The employment is in accordance with the applicable Central collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organisations – The Public Sector (OAO-S Central Collective Agreement) and the Collective Agreement for craftsmen and technicians.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is an opportunity for negotiating supplements. There is an employer-financed pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Frederikshavn.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

As an employee you are obliged to render service outside the country, including with units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace-enforcing, humanitarian and other similar operations.
