Consultant for the school sector in Holbæk Municipality

Would you like to help develop the public primary school in close collaboration with school leaders and colleagues across the municipality? Do you have strong didactic competencies, a data- and practice-oriented mindset, and experience translating political ambitions and research into concrete results? And are you motivated by sticking to things, following up, and succeeding together with others? Then we may have the job for you in the Secretariat for Learning and Wellbeing (LAER).

About the position We are looking for a consultant who can work strategically, concretely support the development of the school sector, and create coherence between political decisions, shared priorities, and the schools’ practices.

In LAER we are the schools’ partner. We co-create solutions with the school leaders, while respecting that schools are different and face different opportunities and challenges. This means that we work strategically across the board and at the same time go closely to each individual school. At times you will need to step closer to school leadership and contribute concretely when there is a need.

You will play a central role in the realization of the Public School’s Quality Program and the new degrees of freedom. We must create more practice-based, varied and motivating teaching, raise the 10 percent most academically challenged students, and ensure that more students achieve at least 02 in Danish and mathematics – without compromising wellbeing and school joy.

You will also be the coordinator of the action plan for the municipality’s upcoming absenteeism strategy. Together with a cross-cutting working group, you will translate the strategy into concrete pilot actions with a focus on involving the perspectives of children and families, and participation in both the school and other communities.

Duties will include, among others

• supporting schools’ work with the quality program, increased professionalism and inclusive learning environments
• translating research and qualitative and quantitative data into usable pedagogical practice
• acting as the coordinator for the work on the action plan for the absenteeism strategy
• planning and facilitating meetings, theme days and learning processes
• being responsible for quality and development dialogues between schools and politicians
• preparing political case material, briefings, and notes
• providing leadership support in general

You should not reinvent new initiatives – you should make the important things work We are not looking for a ideas machine, but a consultant who creatively can adapt and realize the initiatives that have already been decided. You must be able to base your work on what already functions, what concerns and motivates staff, leaders and students at the schools, and from there create momentum and follow the work through to the end.

We envisage that you

• have a teacher education supplemented by a diploma/ master’s degree or a relevant master’s degree
• have strong didactic competencies and solid insight into the core tasks of the public school
• have experience as e.g. school leader, pedagogical leader, municipal consultant or from an agency, research or educational institution
• can lead complex processes and create inclusive meetings and professional learning environments
• can analyze and communicate data so that it becomes usable for practice, leadership, and politicians.

About the Secretariat for Learning and Wellbeing You will become part of a professionally strong team of colleagues with a wide range of tasks within the school and early childhood sector. We have an informal and trusting tone, high professional ambition, and a great deal of freedom to plan the tasks. We share knowledge, help each other, and work closely with school leaderships and other partners.

Practical information The position is full-time with start on 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible. Salary and terms of employment follow the applicable collective agreement and local salary formation agreement. Your primary workplace is Kanalstræde 2, Holbæk.
