Then you may be our new colleague in the ambulatory clinic for Cancer Diseases at Sønderjylland Hospital in Sønderborg.
We are looking for a specialist in clinical oncology who wants to become part of an engaged team where we combine high professional quality with empathic care, respect and shared responsibility for a good patient course.
What can we offer you?
With us you’ll have a daily life with room for both professional depth, independence and collaboration.
- Close patient contact and continuity. You will have the opportunity to follow your own patients and build long-term relationships with patients and relatives.
- Independence with collegial sparring. You will be responsible for evaluation, treatment and follow-up, while always having engaged colleagues to discuss the professional decisions with.
- Professional development. We prioritize competence development, continuing education, participation in national professional forums and relevant conferences.
- Opportunity to contribute your own ideas and perspectives to the department’s professional development and good patient pathways.
- Opportunity for research. You can engage in clinical and epidemiological research, and there is managerial backing for the position possibly being combined with a research professorship.
- Flexibility and balance. We offer the possibility of flexible work arrangements, including days working from home when tasks permit. There is also a possibility to discuss evening outpatient clinics
- A good start and ongoing support. You will receive a structured introduction, training from an experienced colleague and a mentorship program.
- A strong multidisciplinary community. You will become part of a team where we help each other, share knowledge and work together to create the best possible patient pathways.
About us
The Ambulatory Clinic for Cancer Diseases is part of Medical Diseases at Sønderjylland Hospital and is located in Sønderborg. We provide cancer treatment for patients from the four southern Jutland municipalities: Sønderborg, Aabenraa, Tønder and Haderslev.
We provide preventive and life-prolonging treatment for patients with breast cancer, lung cancer and colorectal cancer. In addition, we follow patients after treatment for malignant melanoma and low-risk breast cancer. We also have a Clinic for Late Effects after Cancer (KFS), where we help patients with late effects after cancer and cancer treatment.
We work with modern oncological treatment forms, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antihormonal therapy and biological medicines.
Our approach is based on the Patient-Responsible Doctor and Shared Decision Making. We emphasize that patients are actively involved in decisions about their treatment, and that the collaboration between patients, relatives, doctors and nurses creates safe and coherent pathways.
A team that lifts together
You will become part of an oncological team with four specialists, head nurse, nurses, project nurses, medical secretaries, psychologists, clinical dietitians and a social worker.
We work closely with other specialties involved in the evaluation and treatment of cancer diseases. Each week we participate in seven multidisciplinary team conferences in breast, lung and colorectal cancer as well as three radiology conferences. In addition, we have a formal collaboration with the cancer departments in Odense and Vejle on radiotherapy.
We believe that good patient pathways are created through professional dialogue, mutual respect and close collaboration across specialties and professional groups.
Research and professional development
Research is an integrated part of our work. We have a well-established and active Clinical Research Unit (KFE), supporting the department’s clinical trials and registration in clinical quality databases.
The research unit ensures that clinical trials are conducted in accordance with applicable Good Clinical Practice (GCP), national and international guidelines and Danish law.
If you are interested in research, there is the possibility to participate in both clinical and epidemiological research in the Medical Research Unit. You can engage in existing projects and help develop new research activities focused on translating new knowledge into better treatment and patient pathways.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a specialist in clinical oncology who wants to contribute to the continued development of our department and create good pathways for cancer patients.
We emphasize that you
- have a high professional commitment and interest in the development of oncology
- meet patients and relatives with empathy, respect and professionalism
- enjoy independent responsibility and at the same time value professional sparring
- collaborate constructively across professional groups and specialties
- actively contribute to a good work environment and shared professional development
- are curious, flexible and want to develop both yourself and our offering to patients.
We are interested in hearing about your professional interests and ambitions, whether they are primarily directed toward clinical work, research or development of patient pathways.
The position is to be filled with a specialist in clinical oncology. If you are applying for a position as chief physician, five years of experience as department head is a prerequisite.
