About the job

The Office for Crime Prevention is seeking a consultant with solid social work insight, strategic understanding, and the ability to navigate safely within a political organization. You are motivated to translate political decisions into concrete practice and to create measurable results in close collaboration with prisons and detention centers in the Prison Circle East.

The main task of the Office for Crime Prevention is to contribute to our success in translating strategic and professional goals by assisting with development, support, coordination and follow-up on the crime-prevention initiatives carried out in the institutions in the Prison Circle East. Furthermore, the office is tasked with supporting the central level as relevant.

The Office for Crime Prevention deals with a wide range of tasks including social work interventions, psychosocial interventions, drug treatment, health (somatic and psychiatric), suicide prevention, sexual offenders, education and employment, cognitive skills training, youth issues, a close and broad cross-sector collaboration, cooperation with civil society, family and other stakeholders, and much more.

The office consists of five teams, four deputy heads and a head of office, who emphasize close multidisciplinary collaboration.

About the position and tasks

You will join the Team for Authority Cooperation and Client Pathways. As a consultant, your main task is to translate the strategic and professional goals within your areas of expertise in close interaction with prisons and detention centers, partners and the Agency for Denmark’s Prisons. You will regularly participate in cross-disciplinary working groups across The Danish Prison Service and will therefore have a sense of community and collaboration with your colleagues in the Office for Crime Prevention, the institutions, the Prison Circle West and the Agency for The Danish Prisons.

  • Ensure high professional quality in task execution, including case processing and action plan work at the on-site facilities, through inclusive and developmental workflows.
  • Prepare professional standards, guidelines, templates etc.
  • Follow up on progress and results
  • Prepare notes, consultation responses, project descriptions etc.
  • Contribute to a good working environment with well-being and strong cross-disciplinary collaboration with sparring and feedback both internally and externally.

About you

You must be professionally strong within the field, just as you must master the cross-field between practice and the civil service role. You are used to acting at multiple levels and are expected to have the personal and professional abilities to implement and follow up on messages from political and administrative hands.

You must also be able to handle a variety of tasks within planning, development, follow-up and communication, just as facilitating change processes and professional development programs for groups is an important competence. To succeed in the task, you must also be able to build trustful relationships across disciplines with your many partners, including prison leadership and staff as well as the central level.

We would like you to have professionally

  • Social work background such as a social worker or a master's degree in social sciences
  • Knowledge from and practical experience with The Danish Prison Service, similar Agencies, the municipal sector or similar
  • Experience working in a politically governed organization
  • Good analytical abilities
  • Strong skills in communication and dissemination – both oral and written.

We would like you to be as a person

  • Proactive with an eye for development opportunities
  • Have good collaboration skills, but also be able to work independently
  • Able to think across the organization
  • Capable of working with many different professional groups
  • Structured with a good overview of your tasks.

We offer

You will become part of a cross-disciplinary strong environment in the circle office. Your colleagues are dedicated employees with high professional competence in all prison-related areas, and there is an open and humorous work environment. We emphasize that our busy days are accompanied by a good tone of voice and helpfulness toward each other, and a focus on a good balance between work and family life for the individual employee.

Salary and employment terms

The position is a permanent full-time role with an average weekly working time of 37 hours.

The position is intended to be filled by 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
