About the Inflammation Unit and the department
The Department of Infectious Diseases handles diagnostics and treatment of complex infectious diseases and carries both highly specialized and nationwide tasks. Chronic viral infections such as HIV and hepatitis are, along with infections in patients with immune deficiency conditions, tuberculosis, as well as complex lung-, bone- and other infections among the department's central disease areas.
The Inflammation Unit is a prioritized development area. The ambition is to strengthen a specialized offering for patients with complex and long-lasting courses, where multidisciplinary diagnostics are crucial, and at the same time build research and innovation around the patient group. Development takes place in collaboration with other specialties and should support coherent pathways between Rigshospitalet, other hospitals and other sectors.
As a senior doctor/specialist with us you are therefore not only expected to perform a clinical function, but also to help shape the department's future offerings. This applies to both the Inflammation Unit and the department's broader responsibility to develop specialized infectious medicine, generate knowledge and ensure that this knowledge benefits patients and partners.
Research, education and professional development
The department has a strong research profile with several research groups and research units closely linked to the clinic. We seek a colleague who can contribute with an independent research profile and at the same time strengthen joint projects. Documented acquisition of larger external grants is given substantial weight. It is expected that the applicant can contribute with external funding for own research time and salary.
Mentoring and professional development are natural parts of the position. Experience with supervision and mentoring of younger doctors, PhD students or other researchers will therefore be an advantage.
Terms of employment
Salary and terms of employment follow the collective agreement for senior physicians between the Regions’ Salary and Tariff Board and the Association of Specialists.

Start: early 2027 or by agreement
Application deadline 15 November 2026.
Interviews are expected to be held on one of the following dates: 23 November, 11 December, 18 December or 21 December 2026.
