Create a safe and predictable afternoon for a 10-year-old boy

Do you have experience with autism and a calm approach? Then you can play an important role in an afternoon with structure, familiarity and activities based on the boy's interests.

About the task

The boy is 10 years old and has autism. He is very sensitive to demands and changes and therefore needs clear frameworks, structure and predictability. In daily life he uses pictograms to create an overview of today's activities, and it is important that you can support this structure.

You pick up the boy from school at 13:30 and take the train home with him. From there you are together for the rest of the afternoon until 16:30. You must meet him with calmness and clarity and support him in the transition from school to home.

Activities can be based on his interests. He likes computer games with themes such as space, rockets and flags, just as he enjoys playing Uno and playing with figurines. He also likes playing football in the garden and jumping on a trampoline.

The boy can become overstimulated in public spaces and therefore needs you to be aware of his need for calm and help create clear and predictable frameworks.

There are a dog and a cat in the home.

About you

You can be a pedagogue or unskilled with relevant experience. It is important that you have experience with autism and preferably with children who are very demanding of rules.

You work patiently and calmly and can be clear without pressuring. You understand the importance of structure and predictability and can support the boy through transitions and changes in a calm and acknowledging manner.

Working hours

The position is 3 hours per week, initially on Tuesdays 13:30–16:30. You report to the boy's school at 13:30 and accompany him home by train.

The family is flexible regarding the day of the week, but not Wednesday.

Outside Office hours there is always a staffed duty phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension in accordance with the National Collective Agreement between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and work-related injury insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.
