About the job

We are seeking a professionally strong and engaged teacher with a main subject in Danish and preferably also with a main subject in physical education and swimming. The position is permanent and 37 hours per week.

As we are a smaller school, there will be tasks in both the primary and lower/middle grades. The primary task will however be in our combined 1st/2nd grade, where you will also serve as form teacher.

About the school

Gjøl School and SI - or as we call ourselves, "The School by the Fjord" - is characterized by school, kindergarten and nursery being gathered in one place. It gives children a secure upbringing with learning, community and familiar adults throughout their time with us. Students attend the school up to and including 6th grade, and we currently have 84 students.

At Gjøl School, we are focused on the idea that "the present creates children who will succeed in the future" . Our students must be able to navigate a world marked by change, complexity and shifting demands. Therefore, we work with the whole person and have a particular focus on learning, formation and education. You can read more about our vision for Gjøl School and SI as well as our view of children on our website.

We continuously work to develop the organization through a dynamic and co-creating culture with a focus on good and constructive collaboration. This means that students, teachers, pedagogues, parents, management and external partners all play an important role in the work with the children.

We focus on developing a strong professional culture, where open dialogue, collaboration and shared reflection create new initiatives and opportunities for action. At the same time, we place high priority on pedagogical and didactic discussions to support a continued high level of professional quality.

Gjøl School is a development-oriented school, and you should therefore be prepared to become part of ongoing initiatives and projects such as The Whole Life , TOPH and Academic Lift . Under The Whole Life we work, among other things, with a varied school day, outdoor teaching, a fixed weekly theme day and strengthened collaboration with the local community.

In collaboration with the Social Board we have participated in the maturation project TOPH , where we have prioritized continuing a structured approach in working with the students’ well-being as well as developing our procedures and transitions both internally and externally. As part of Academic Lift we work with action learning, trial actions as well as didactic and pedagogical reflections, which shall qualify our practice, strengthen teaching and translate the school development plan into concrete action.

As a teacher at Gjøl School you will become part of a cohesive team where we closely collaborate to develop, plan and implement teaching and activities for the students.

We expect that you

  • have an outgoing and approachable attitude to children, colleagues and parents.
  • are professionally strong and focus on both students’ academic development and well-being.
  • work in a structured way and follow up on initiated actions.
  • wish to engage in a close and binding collaboration about the children’s learning and well-being.
  • are engaged and relationship-driven in collaboration with students, colleagues and parents.
  • contribute with new perspectives, humor and good energy.
  • have a professional approach to the overall task.
  • dare to put yourself to the test and possess strong competencies in classroom management.
