About the job

Can you provide loving, honest and predictable frameworks for students with special needs? And do you have a strong interest in special education and teaching? Then you should apply for a fixed-term position in our lovely special class series at Kirkebjerg School.

We are looking for a colleague to start on December 1, 2026, who will help develop our special provision in a strong team collaboration and learning community. With us, the core and development task lies both in the close teamwork, where 4-5 colleagues work closely together about the eight students in the class and in cross-team collaboration.

We need a teacher who can teach Danish at the middle school level, and it would be an advantage if you can also teach science and technology.

At Kirkebjerg School, the fundamental value of community is well-being – the personal, the relational and the academic. We stand on an educational foundation that believes that children do well if they can, and do what is meaningful for them.

We are ambitious on behalf of the children and believe that all children can develop in the right surroundings. We have many different arenas where students can succeed, including outdoor learning, qualified breaks and school chess, which have been initiated by our engaged staff.

Our expectations of you

  • you must believe in the best in everyone by supporting our children and young people in experiencing autonomy, competence and belonging
  • you must be a role model for the students by being able to form professional relationships and be ready to attune your nervous system to neurodivergent children and youths with average intelligence within the autism spectrum and ADHD and have knowledge of Low Arousal techniques
  • you must, together with your skilled colleagues and other professionalities, be able to explore and create the most appropriate learning environments and continuously document, for example, interventions, pedagogical notes etc.
  • you will help create capable, life-ready children who are better prepared for life's challenges, which requires work with the students' ability to show empathy, listen actively and adapt to different social contexts

What can we offer you?

At Kirkebjerg School there is both practice-oriented professional development and good sparring and support in the close team collaboration and with a strong resource center. You will be well equipped and not left alone.

We are curious about our own practice and keep ourselves continuously updated on the latest knowledge within the area through presentations, sparring and pedagogical weekends, and we value time for reflection in different forums.

You will meet competent, engaged colleagues, and if you are passionate about something very special and can put it into practice, you can influence the development of our special class series.

More about us

The special class series functions as a holistic provision, where fixed teachers and pedagogues form a team around the group of children, and where the pedagogues participate in both the school and after-school part.

Kirkebjerg School has both a general school and a special class series with a total of about 950 students. We are constantly seeking opportunities and potential in the shared school with many competencies and subject areas. The special class series has about 75 children distributed across grades 0-9.

Employment terms

Salary and employment terms according to the applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation. In connection with the appointment, we will obtain child and criminal records checks as well as references.

The appointment is for 37 hours per week, starting December 1, 2026, and is fixed-term until June 30, 2027.
