Hi! We are looking for Danish language instructors who want to help internationals in Denmark become confident speaking Danish in everyday life.

At Swap Language we combine live teaching, video lessons, quizzes and digital learning tools to create a structured, flexible and motivating learning journey.

Our goal is simple: Our students should learn the Danish they actually encounter in real life, and feel confident enough to use it.

About the role

We are looking for instructors for our online Danish course for private clients. Our students are at different levels, so the teaching can range from basic everyday language to more advanced conversation training. Common to the lessons is that the students should have a high amount of speaking time and feel confident using Danish actively. At the same time we listen to the students9 needs, so the instruction can also help with pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and cultural questions.

The teaching takes place online and usually uses existing material. Therefore you do not need to build an entire teaching program from scratch. Your main task is to create a good live lesson where students get to use the language actively.

Lessons often take place before 08:00, after 16:00 or on weekends. There can also be lessons in the 08:00-16:00 window, but this is less typical for this type of group.

Your responsibilities

As a teacher at Swap Language you shall

• Conduct online Danish teaching for small groups.
• Create high speaking time and active lessons.
• Help students dare to speak Danish, even when they make mistakes.
• Use our existing lesson material as a starting point.
• Adapt the teaching to the students' level, energy and needs.
• Create a safe and motivating atmosphere in the teaching.

We are looking for someone who is

Patient, and gives students space to try themselves out.

Empathetic, and understands how it can feel to be new in a country.

Motivating, and helps people dare to speak and take chances.

Good at explaining, even when something is difficult.

Structured, but still flexible in meeting the students.

Comfortable with online teaching and digital tools.

It is beneficial if you

• Have experience teaching Danish as a second language.
• Have experience with adult students.
• Have experience teaching students at different levels.
• Speak and write English at a high level.
• Have an education in Danish as a second language, language, linguistics, teaching or similar.
• Have learned a foreign language as an adult or have lived abroad.

It is not a requirement to check all of them. The most important is that you are strong at creating safe, active and human teaching.

Practical information

• Teaching takes place online, and the role can be performed remotely. Therefore you must have a stable internet connection, webcam, microphone and a quiet place to teach from.
• Lessons are usually 50 minutes.
• The role is typically freelance and paid per completed lesson.
• Lessons often take place before 08:00, after 16:00 or on weekends.
• The recruitment process is conducted in English and includes a short application form, a 60-second introduction video and a short trial lesson.
