About the job

In the Department of Environment and Resources, we are seeking an experienced natural or environmental science project manager for our raw materials team.

The position is divided between two main tasks: to drive development efforts on sustainability, climate and biodiversity in the raw materials and soil contamination area and to work with case processing and oversight in the raw materials area.

You will become part of a professionally strong raw materials team with 15 colleagues, where we help each other find good solutions in a complex and society-important field.

About us and the job: The Department of Environment and Resources consists of about 75 employees who work with soil contamination and raw materials. You will become part of the raw materials team, where we have close collaboration and help each other find good solutions in a complex professional area.

Your role – development projects (about 50%) In this part of the job you will lead the development and implementation of projects that strengthen sustainability, climate and biodiversity in the raw materials and soil contamination area. This is a new role in the department.

You will among other things

  • Lead the planning, preparation and implementation of development projects with a focus on sustainability, climate and biodiversity
  • Be proactive and initiate and see opportunities to develop sustainability in the raw materials and soil contamination area
  • Collaborate with colleagues, other authorities and external partners to translate political priorities into concrete projects and actions
  • Be responsible for the project phases including schedule, finances and the associated administration

You will, together with another project manager, play a key role in initiating, developing and implementing projects. The projects range from smaller, short-term initiatives to larger, complex projects with external funding, e.g., from the EU or foundations.

Your role – raw materials case processing and supervision (about 50%) In this part of the job you will work with official tasks in the raw materials area, where you are responsible for case processing, environmental assessment and supervision together with your colleagues in the raw materials team.

You will among other things

  • Prepare permits for mineral extraction and conduct environmental impact assessments of applications under the Environmental Impact Assessment Act
  • Conduct supervision in mineral mines with a focus on conditions and good dialogue with the extractor
  • Handle inquiries and complaints from citizens and other stakeholders, as well as follow-up
  • Collaborate with other authorities and internal specialists to ensure a holistic case processing

Case processing is often a longer process where it is important to create an overview, communicate clearly, and balance different interests and considerations.

About you: You have several years of experience with project management, preferably in combination with knowledge of the raw materials area, or you have worked with development tasks and are ready to take clear project management responsibility. We of course offer thorough introduction and training, and we do not expect you to know everything from day one.

It is important that you

  • Have a relevant academic education, e.g., geographer, biologist, geologist, landscape manager or another relevant academic education with experience within nature, environment, climate or sustainability
  • Communicate clearly and understandably – both in writing and orally – and are patient and diplomatic in dialogues with citizens, businesses and other authorities
  • Thrive in taking leadership of processes and translating political priorities into concrete action
  • Have good cooperation skills and seek professional sparring with colleagues
  • Can stay calm and maintain overview when there are many interests and tight deadlines
  • Have a driver's license (B)

It is a plus if you also

  • Have experience with case processing within the environmental area
  • Have worked in a politically governed organization
  • Are accustomed to navigating in complex legislation and balancing different considerations

We offer: You will become part of an inspiring work environment with high professionalism, where we strive to solve tasks in the best possible way and create value for both the environment, society and citizens.

We offer among other things

  • On-the-job training in case processing
  • That you will be equipped for the role of project manager on development projects through close collaboration with the other project manager and other colleagues
  • Professional development through participation in courses, conferences and project collaborations
  • A culture where we prioritise job satisfaction, well-being and balance between private life and work
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility to work from home up to two days a week, when tasks allow
  • A collegial environment where we help each other and actively use each other’s expertise

We continuously follow up on tasks and expectations in dialogue with you, so that tasks, responsibilities and development match both your competencies and the department’s needs.
