Do you want to set the direction for the tests, exams and assessments of the future

Tests and assessments play a large and important role in our education system – and the area is developing rapidly. As team leader in the Agency for Education and Quality, you will have the opportunity to lead skilled employees and help shape the exams and tests of the future.

We are looking for two team leaders who want to take responsibility for both the daily operations and the long-term development of tests and exams in, among other things, primary and secondary education.

You will find yourself at the intersection of management, professional development and secure operations. When examination periods begin, the tests must be stable, fair and professionally conducted for students and schools. The rest of the year focuses on developing the area – including in light of AI, the upcoming reform of the three-year upper secondary education, the new vocational and professional education EPX and the quality program for primary school.

In other words, this is a job where you must both make things work in practice and help develop what must work in the future.

You will become part of the management

You will become part of the office's management group together with a head of office and two other team leaders. You report to the head of office and play a central role in setting the direction for the office's work.

You will enter a new leadership team where there are good opportunities to influence both collaboration, priorities and the professional development of the office.

As a team leader you will have personnel responsibility for one of the office's three teams with about 10 employees. You will, among other things,:

• set goals and directions for the team’s work
• prioritize and allocate tasks
• provide professional sparring and feedback
• support the development of employees
• conduct development interviews and salary discussions.

You are part of developing the tests of the future

An important part of the job will be translating political agreements and reforms into tests and exams that work in practice.

You may, among other things, work with

• development of tests for upper secondary schools in light of AI and the upcoming reform of the three-year upper secondary education
• development of tests for the new vocational and professional education EPX
• development of primary school tests in light of the primary school quality program.

Here you will have the opportunity to bring your professional ambitions into play and help shape an area that has great significance for students, schools and education, and you will help ensure that the tests function.

At the same time, the office has a major responsibility for the practical administration of tests and exams. This means you will also take responsibility for parts of the daily operations, including:

• finances related to test production, including contracts and supplier management
• grading and selection of test items
• exam readiness and on-call duties during tests
• use and development of IT systems for planning and conducting tests.

When examination periods strike, everything must run smoothly. It requires oversight, good collaboration and the ability to make decisions when there is a lot at stake.

You will have a central professional role

As a team leader you also have responsibility for quality assuring and coordinating the staff's work with, among other things, ministerial service, press cases and central exam-related matters.

In addition you will have professional responsibility for parts of the office’s exam-related work, including in relation to task commissions and censorship. The specific distribution of tasks between the team leaders will be determined in connection with the recruitment. You must also be prepared to work across the office and in different educational areas.

About you

You have a long higher education and a desire to use your professional knowledge and leadership skills to achieve results together with others.

You may already have experience with people management or professional leadership. You may be ready to take the next step into a leadership role and have experiences that provide you with a strong foundation for the task. The most important is that you want to lead, set direction and develop both people and tasks.

We imagine that you

• are a skilled people leader or have the potential and motivation to become one.
• have professional ambitions and can translate them into clear goals and direction for your team
• have experience with operational tasks and can maintain overview and calm when pace is high and decisions must be made.
• are interested in tests and/or examinations and want to learn about a professionally complex area.
• are a strong collaborator and thrive on delivering results across offices, the agency and the Ministry.
• have knowledge of one of the education areas and the test domain is an advantage, but not a requirement.

You do not need to know everything from day one. However you should be willing to take responsibility, be curious about the subject area and actively contribute to both the management and development of the office.

About the Office for Tests, Examinations and Assessments

You will be employed in the Office for Tests, Examinations and Assessments, which has overall responsibility for tests, examinations and assessments across all educational sectors under the Ministry of Education, i.e. primary school, upper secondary schools, vocational education and training, adult education and the FGU (Introductory Pathways for Immigrant Youth).

Our office is organised into three teams, but we solve tasks across teams and in close collaboration internally within the office. We consist of about 30 employees with different areas of expertise, and we work with tools and processes that support the administration and conduct of tests and exams, including several different IT systems. We work closely with the other offices in the agency to ensure coherence between tests and teaching.

We have close collaboration with the Agency for IT and Learning (STIL) regarding IT solutions for the test area and for conducting tests – e.g. in Netprøver, TOPAS, test and exams, the test builder, item builder, etc.

We have a close collaboration within the office and an informal tone. At the same time we prioritise a strong professional collaboration with ongoing sparring, where we help each other and engage in making a difference for the education sector.

Salary and employment terms

You will be employed as a Chief Consultant with personnel management under AC Agreement Appendix 4a between the state and the trade unions. There is an opportunity to negotiate a qualification supplement depending on qualifications.

Expected start date: 1 December 2026 or 1 January 2027.
