About the job

Team Leaders for the Office for Tests, Examinations and Assessments

Tests and assessments play a large and important role in our education system – and the area is rapidly developing. As a team leader in the Agency for Education and Quality you will have the opportunity to lead skilled staff and help shape the tests and assessments of the future.

We are seeking two team leaders who are keen to take responsibility for both the daily operations and the long-term development of tests and assessments in, among other things, primary and secondary education.

You will be at the crossroads between management, professional development and secure operations. When examination periods begin, the tests must be stable, fair and professionally conducted for students and schools. The rest of the year focuses on developing the area – e.g. in light of AI, the upcoming reform of the three-year upper secondary education, the new vocational- and profession-oriented upper secondary education EPX and the primary school quality program.

In other words, it is a job where you need to make things work in practice and help develop what needs to work in the future.

You will become part of the management

You will become part of the office's management group together with a office head and two other team leaders. You report to the office head and will play a central role in setting the direction for the office's work.

You enter a new leadership team where there are good opportunities to influence both collaboration, priorities and the professional development of the office.

As a team leader you will have personnel responsibility for one of the office's three teams with about 10 employees. You will be responsible for, among other things:

  • setting goals and direction for the team's work
  • prioritising and distributing tasks
  • providing professional sparring and feedback
  • supporting employees' development
  • holding performance and salary discussions.

You are helping to develop future tests

An important part of the job will be translating political agreements and reforms into tests and assessments that work in practice.

You may, among other things, work with

  • development of tests in upper secondary schools in light of AI and the upcoming reform of the three-year upper secondary education
  • development of tests for the new vocational- and profession-oriented upper secondary education EPX
  • development of primary school tests in light of the primary school quality program.

Here you will have the opportunity to bring your professional ambitions into play and help shape an area that has great significance for students, schools and education, and you will help ensure that the tests work.

At the same time, the office has a large responsibility for the practical administration of tests and assessments. This means that you will also take responsibility for parts of the daily operations, including:

  • finance related to test production, including contracts and supplier management
  • censorship and extraction of test items
  • exam readiness and on-call duty during tests
  • use and development of IT systems for planning and conducting tests.

When examination periods hit, everything must function. It requires overview, good collaboration and the ability to make decisions when there is a lot at stake.

You will have a central professional role

As a team leader you also have responsibility for quality assuring and coordinating the employees' work with, among other things, ministerial services, press cases and central test-related issues.

In addition you will have professional responsibility for parts of the office's test-related work, e.g. in relation to task commissions and censorship. The exact distribution of tasks among the team leaders will be determined in connection with the appointment. You must be prepared to also work across the office and in different educational areas.

About you

You have a long higher education and a desire to use your professional knowledge and leadership skills to achieve results together with others.

You may already have experience in personnel management or professional leadership. You may be ready to take the next step into a leadership role and have experiences that give you a strong foundation for the task. The most important thing is that you want to lead, set direction and develop both people and tasks.

We imagine that you

  • are a skilled people manager or have the potential and motivation to become one.
  • have professional ambitions and can translate them into clear goals and direction for your team
  • have experience with operations tasks and can maintain an overview and calm when the pace is high and decisions must be made.
  • are interested in tests and/or assessments and want to familiarize yourself with a professionally complex area.
  • are a strong collaboration partner and thrive on delivering results across offices, the agency and the Ministry.
  • have knowledge of one of the education areas and the test area is an advantage but not a requirement.

You do not need to know everything from day one. On the other hand, you must be willing to take responsibility, be curious about the subject area and actively contribute to both management and the development of the office.

About the Office for Tests, Examinations and Assessments

You will be employed in the Office for Tests, Examinations and Assessments, which has overall responsibility for tests, examinations and assessments in all educational areas under the Ministry of Education, i.e. primary education, upper secondary schools, vocational educations, adult education and FGU.

Our office is organized into three teams, but we solve tasks across teams and in close internal collaboration within the office. We consist of about 30 employees with different professional backgrounds, and we work with tools and processes that support the administration of tests and examinations, including several different IT systems. We work closely with the other offices in the agency to ensure coherence between tests and teaching.

We have a close collaboration with the Agency for IT and Learning (STIL) regarding IT solutions for the test area and for conducting tests – e.g. in Netprøver, TOPAS, tests and tests, the item builder, the task builder, etc.

We have close collaboration within the office and an informal tone. At the same time we prioritise a strong professional collaboration with ongoing sparring, where we help each other and engage in making a difference for the education sector.

Expected start: 1 December 2026 or 1 January 2027.
