Doctor sought for a 1-year unclassified position in the Outreach Geriatric Psychiatry Team, at the Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic Frederiksberg-Vanløse, Psychiatric Center Copenhagen

Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic Frederiksberg-Vanløse is located at Nimbusparken 24, Frederiksberg 2000. We are in total 5 teams in the building distributed across 2 teams for psychotic disorders, a team for non-psychotic disorders, an outreach elderly psychiatric team and a team for bipolar disorder.

About the position

You will become part of our Outreach Elderly Psychiatric team which works partly according to the F-ACT model (see below) and which currently treats around 300 patients residing in the Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic Copenhagen catchment area.

As medical colleagues in the team you have a further 3 specialists, at times there may also be a physician in training. In addition, there are 9 nurses employed in the team. There is a close collaboration with the Elderly Psychiatric Ward according to the principles of ”Better Treatment During Hospitalisation”.

Tasks will be initial assessments and follow-ups on patients who have started in the course. This work takes place in close collaboration with nurses in the team and under supervision of specialists. Most patient appointments take place outside the outpatient clinic, at e.g. nursing homes or in the patient’s own home, usually together with a nurse or staff from the nursing home.

There will be on-call obligation as a pre-call at the Copenhagen Psychiatric Center’s emergency department after a preliminary introduction program and on-call shifts.

• A broad introduction to the elderly psychiatric field with good opportunities for supervision by experienced specialists. Geriatric psychiatry is a field where internal medicine and pharmacological knowledge are important and a position with us will also be good experience to carry on in other specialties such as Geriatrics, General Medicine and Internal Medicine.
• Also introduction to general psychiatry: Through shifts you will also meet the general psychiatric patients and gain experience with acute-psychiatry. A position here will thus also be able to help you clarify the choice of psychiatry as a specialty.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration: Since the team works outreach, many of the follow-up conversations with the patient will be with a nurse, so the work involves a close interdisciplinary collaboration, which provides valuable experience as a junior doctor.
• Skilled colleagues: The outpatient clinic has 7 specialists, a 1st resident physician, 2 clinical psychologists, and a varying number of junior doctors and an SPU (special psychologist in training). We have a good and close collaboration across teams, thus good opportunities for sparring and learning. We have regular weekly drug meetings, shared lunch and a conference for visitation and diagnostic assessment.

Your role

• You will perform initial assessments and initiate treatment plans for new patients and follow these up in close collaboration with specialists and the rest of the team. There will be shifts at the emergency department in Copenhagen Psychiatric Center.
• You will be eager to take an active part in teaching and supervision in the house and in the team.

Our expectations of you

You are a doctor, ideally, but not necessarily with psychiatric experience, and come with a desire to and interest in learning more about the elderly psychiatric field. Experience from other specialties, especially with the elderly patient group, is of course also relevant and welcome.

Salary and employment terms

Start date is December 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

This is a 1-year fixed-term position, as an unclassified doctor.

You will be employed in accordance with the collective agreement for Subordinate Doctors - 33.06.1

The Outpatient Clinic is currently open on weekdays during the hours 08.00–16.00. Your working hours will therefore primarily fall within this time frame.

The Region is a 24-hour area, and there may, according to concrete need, be planned shifts outside the outpatient clinic’s opening hours in accordance with the working time rules in the collective agreement.

As a doctor in the Capital Region and at Copenhagen Psychiatric Center/Bispebjerg-Frederiksberg Hospital you are on-call. You will as a rule have your shifts in the pre-call team during daytime and evening/night, both weekdays and weekends. The shifts will take place at the center’s emergency department and 24-hour ward.

What is F-ACT?

In psychiatry we treat most of our patients outpatient. In the psychiatric outpatient clinics that work according to the F-ACT model, we help some of the sickest patients.

F-ACT stands for Flexible Assertive Community Treatment and has a strong focus on high professionalism in psychiatric treatment and recovery, which together help the individual patient to a better everyday life. The patient’s own goals and wishes are included in a treatment plan, which the multidisciplinary team collaborates with the patient to come as close to as possible.

A central element in the F-ACT approach is that treatment can be intensified quickly if the patient’s situation requires it. An important step on the way to a good daily life is that patients can receive support to function in their familiar surroundings alongside the treatment course, and that they can meet the psychiatry’s treatment providers in their own home.
