Round-the-clock shifts with presence and care for a young man

Do you want to create good experiences and safe surroundings for a happy and social young man? Then this position might be for you.

About the task

You will be an important support for a 21-year-old happy and curious young man with cerebral palsy, significantly reduced cognitive function and epilepsy. He communicates non-verbally and expresses himself through sounds, facial expressions and body language.

The young man lives at home with the family and has his own area in the house. He has extensive physical disability, uses a wheelchair and needs help with all daily practical and personal tasks.

He is very social and follows what happens around him with interest. He loves books and music on his iPad and enjoys getting out – both on car trips and on his disability bike. He is good at maintaining focus when something catches his interest, and he is easy to read, so you can sense whether he wants an activity or needs a break.

Your task is to be his helper throughout the day. This includes, among other things, personal care, diaper changes, bathing, and giving tube feed. You will be trained in the tasks around him.

An important part of the job is also to create a cozy and meaningful day together with him. The activities are adapted to his interests and daily form and can include music, books or outings.

At night you sleep in his area and are available when he needs your help.

About you

We are looking for you who have experience with personal care, tube feeding and epilepsy.

You are caring, present and thrive being close to another person. You are prepared for personal care and practical assistance to fill a substantial part of the task, and at the same time you have a sense of the young man behind the support needs and to create good experiences together with him.

It is important that you can take responsibility and be attentive to his signals, daily form and need for breaks. You may also be proactive and have a desire to contribute with activities and outings that can give him good moments.

Working hours

The position is a total of 48 hours per month. The shifts are 24 hours in even weeks and run from Saturday 12:00 to Sunday 12:00

The team collaborates to cover the shifts, and you must be prepared to take extra hours in connection with holidays and illness.

Outside office hours there is always a staffed on-call phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension in accordance with the National Agreement between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and workers' compensation insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.
