Judicial Assistant in the Supreme Court

A number of vacancies for judge's associates at the Supreme Court are available with start on 1 February 2027 or later by arrangement.

Judge's associate in the Supreme Court

You will become part of a team of judge's associates who, with emphasis on the highest professional quality and in cooperation with Supreme Court judges, prepare cases and participate in the handling of both written and oral cases.

The work mainly includes the preparation of minutes and recommendations to the judges in cassation cases of principled significance and concerning disputes during the preparation of cases in appeals cases.

You will have an exceptional opportunity to gain insight into the Supreme Court judges' legal method by reporting the closed votes in orally argued cases.

You will also be required to assist the first-voicing judges with the preparation of voting and the drafting of judgments in orally argued Supreme Court cases.

You will gain experience in judicial management as an independent chair during courtroom proceedings where parties and witnesses give testimony for the Supreme Court cases.

The Special Court for Appeals, which handles cases for retrial of criminal cases and complaints about court lawyers, and the Employment Subcommittee have a secretariat in the Supreme Court. The judge's associates are also involved in this work.

Terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment are determined in accordance with the academic collective agreement.

There will be opportunities to obtain supplements depending on your experience and qualifications.

The appointment is made by the courts for an indefinite period and with the special employment protection that applies to judge's associates.

It is expected that the associates, after a period of about 3 years, will seek another position – within or outside the courts – as part of normal job rotation.
