About the job

Brydebjerg-Krumsø Pastorat seeks a new parish priest who, together with the parish councils, will create activity in our rural churches and local communities.

Who are you?

We are looking for a priest who

  • Has understanding of the village church as the focal point of the local community, where the priest is visible and knows the local population.
  • Actively helps to create development and think new in our churches and village communities
  • Is interested in all generations
  • Is prepared to ordain people of the same sex.
  • Has good collaborative skills and can get along well with the parish councils, staff, the congregation and fellow priests in the area. We expect close collaboration with the neighboring pastors, among other things around vacation arrangements, possible joint events and other.
  • Is natural, friendly, welcoming, trustworthy and not least persistent.
  • A driving license and own car to be able to move around the parish would be an advantage.

Who are we?

  • Brydebjerg-Krumsø Pastorate consists of two engaged parish councils, which together with the priest maintain church life with traditional as well as alternative services, including theme services and prayers and outdoor services such as a forest service in Keldskov and a service in Musse Nature Park.
  • We have for several years organized activities for mini-confirmations
  • We have various events throughout the year, including Fastelavn service together with Øster Ulslev Boldklub, hunting service in Vester Ulslev church
  • We have skilled and initiative-taking staff in our graveyard teams and church musicians
  • We have a shrinking congregation, primarily due to demographic development, but a smaller loyal group of worshippers, and at special events we see great participation.

We offer

  • Six lovely medieval churches
  • Two engaged parish councils open to new ideas and initiatives from the priest
  • You/you all will live in Døllefjelde Parsonage, which lies idyllically by Døllefjelde church. The parsonage was built around 1900, whitewashed with a tiled roof and continuously modernised and maintained. The total area is about 400m2 for housing and meeting facilities.
  • Office in the parsonage, where there are also meeting facilities for confirmation preparation, parish council meetings and other activities.

In the Diocese of Lolland-Falster we are about 65 priests in total – parish priests, deacon priests, student priests and hospital priests – spread over four deaneries in two municipalities. We cultivate and value a culture where it is easy to contact one another, easy to be heard, and high ceilings both theologically and practically. In many ways we are a small “family,” and there is never far to colleagues, professional staff in the diocesan administration or the bishop.

About the parish and local area

Brydebjerg-Krumsø Pastorate is located in the southeast of Lolland in a typical rural district with small villages and pronounced agricultural activity. The parish is part of Lolland Østre Deanery and consists of two parish councils with six churches located in Døllefjelde, Musse, Herritslev, Vester Ulslev, Øster Ulslev and Godsted. The parish has 1,195 members of the Church of Denmark.

The area is an active local community with a very active association life. The churches are an active part of the community's activities. The parish's schoolgoing children are educated at Nysted School, and transport to it occurs in school buses. In Øster Ulslev there is a very well-functioning day-care with a baby house and kindergarten. The kindergarten visits Øster Ulslev church on special occasions. The area also offers three community houses, all run by voluntary efforts.

You will live close to the towns of Maribo, Sakskøbing, Nysted and Nykøbing Falster and can therefore easily get to the train. Once a year the big Døllefjelde-Musse market is held, which is a meeting point for all of Lolland-Falster.
