About the job

Do you want to help ensure that the operation of aquaculture is conducted in an environmentally responsible way? Do you have knowledge of the aquaculture sector and the environmental rules that apply to companies operating at sea? And are you eager to join a team where, with great commitment and emphasis on collaboration and a good mood, we prioritise delivering high quality? Then you are the one we are looking for.

The position

One of our capable caseworkers is going on maternity leave. Therefore we are seeking a maternity cover for a period of 13 months. The position is located in the Office of Marine Activities in the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (Miljøstyrelsen), where we, among other things, are responsible for approving the establishment of fish farms under the rules in the Fisheries Act and the Environmental Protection Act and for supervising the operation of the fish farms. The team currently consists of seven skilled colleagues.

You will be working with the following tasks

  • Make decisions on permits and approvals of fish farms.
  • Supervise the operation of the fish farms.
  • Respond to various inquiries from companies, citizens etc.

The task of handling applications is a central task in the position. To independently be able to process an application requires that you have a good knowledge of the rules for approval and operation of fish farms, including especially knowledge of the EU directives on nature and environmental protection.

Your profile

We expect that you

  • have a background as a marine biologist.
  • have knowledge of national rules for approval and operation of fish farms.
  • have experience with the application of the Water Framework Directive and the Habitat Directive.
  • have experience in making decisions, including knowledge of administrative law.
  • have a good head with the ability to oversee complicated cases.
  • communicate clearly both in writing and speaking.
  • are outgoing with a positive mindset and want to contribute to our community.
  • take responsibility for the tasks, have humor and good collaboration skills.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the then current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organisations for academics in the state (the Academics’ Agreement).

Start date 1 December 2026. The position is fixed-term until the end of 2027.
