About the job

Would you like to make a difference for children and contribute to the development of our pedagogical practice?

We are seeking a trained educator for a combined position with duties at Åvangsskolen's 2nd year class and in the after-school program Åstedet. The position is primarily linked to the school’s special class range, the Focus Classes.

We are looking for you who are focused on children’s well-being and development, and who can translate your pedagogical expertise into everyday action. You must be able to build good relationships, support children’s participation in communities and collaborate with colleagues to create spaces based on the children’s needs.

At Åvangsskolen we meet children with positive expectations and a view of their possibilities. We work for a daily life with room for play, activities, learning and deepening, where the children feel they belong and have the opportunity to develop.

We are a workplace in development, where employees’ professional perspectives must be put into play. We expect you to contribute to collaboration, ask questions about our practice, and take shared responsibility for developing it.

You must be able to listen to others and also contribute with your professional assessments.

About the school

Åvangsskolen has approximately 425 students from 0th to 9th grade and an after-school program, Åstedet, with about 135 children. In addition, we have the Focus Classes with up to 8 students per year group.

We place emphasis on good relationships, a committed collaboration and a shared approach to the children. We have expectations of each other and help each other solve the tasks we face. This requires that we are open about our professional considerations and can discuss both what works and what we need to do differently.

The school is in the process of developing the Focus Classes, which will be fully implemented this school year. In this context, an educational environment in Åstedet shall also be established for the children linked to the offer. This creates new tasks and a need to develop our pedagogical framework and collaboration.

About the position

The position is a combined role with pedagogical support tasks in the 2nd year class — primarily in the focus class — and hours in Åstedet.

You must be able to work with the children’s well-being and participation both during the school day and in the after-school period. This includes, among other things, creating safe relationships, supporting the children’s interaction and adjusting the pedagogical effort to different needs.

You will be part of a cross-professional collaboration where dialogue between teachers and educators is important. We expect you to actively contribute to planning, reflection and development of the shared practice.

We are looking for an educator who

  • is a trained educator and can substantiate their educational choices professionally;
  • is focused on creating good conditions for all children’s well-being and participation;
  • is good at building relationships and handling conflicts constructively;
  • meets children, parents and colleagues with respect and an acknowledging approach;
  • contributes actively to team collaboration and can collaborate across professional disciplines;
  • is curious about their own practice and open to professional sparring;
  • takes initiative and follows up on the tasks and agreements that are made;
  • can adapt their effort to a daily life with different needs and tasks;
  • says when help, sparring or new perspectives are needed.

We do not expect you to have all the answers. Instead, we expect you to participate in professional discussions, take responsibility for your part of the task and help find solutions when something needs to be developed or changed.
