Educator wanted for a 12-year-old girl in Søborg

We are looking for a substitute with pedagogical experience for a permanent position, who would like to spend time with a 12-year-old girl every other Friday in Søborg.

About the girl

In Søborg lives a 12-year-old girl together with her parents, her older brother, and the family’s cat and rabbit.

She is a creative girl who both does embroidery, sewing, and is interested in art. She is also active and enjoys outdoor activities, such as going for a bike ride. She is a happy and calm girl.

She has autism, and she needs structure, predictability and thrives best in her routines. If her routine is broken, she can become frustrated and feel that everything is ruined and react emotionally to this. She often masks when she finds it hard, when she is with others. She needs to feel safe with new people and it will take a little time before this safety is established.

About the task

You will spend time with the girl in her presence and participate in her afternoon/evening routine. You will typically sit with her when she eats dinner, you will relax and watch a little tv together. You may also go for a walk if there is mood for it, or do something creative. If something in her routine is disrupted, you must calm her and suggest another activity that you can do instead. In the beginning, it is important to focus on building a good relationship.

Working hours and amount

The working hours will be 4 hours every other Friday from late afternoon to evening. The exact time and date will be agreed with the girl’s mother. It will be from as early as 16:00 to 20:00 and as late as 18:00 to 22:00. The time within this window may vary according to the family’s needs. There may be shifts on other days if the family needs to move it to another day. The family has up to 4 hours every other week. If the family is not able to use all 4 hours, the specific working time may be shorter, for example during the initial period.

About you

You are a trained educator or have another relevant background.

You may have experience working with children with autism or be familiar with it.

You thrive in 1:1 settings

You are caring and empathetic and understand the need for structure and predictability.
