About the job

Independent and solution-oriented employee for donor apheresis and patient apheresis

The Clinical Immunology Department is seeking a health professional for a permanent position as of February 1, 2027 or by agreement. The position is divided between donor apheresis at Stærmosegårdsvej 6 and patient apheresis at J.B. Winsløws Vej 4. We are looking for you who thrive with responsibility, can work independently and stay calm – even when things are fast-paced and decisions must be made.

Your tasks – donor apheresis (Stærmosegårdsvej 6)

You will become part of donor apheresis, where you will, among other things, need to

  • perform plasma apheresis of blood donors
  • carry out whole blood collection from blood donors
  • take blood samples from blood donors
  • freeze plasma
  • take care of delegated areas of responsibility in relation to daily operations
  • be part of staffing the Blood Bus and as needed in donor apheresis at OUH Svendborg

The tasks require you to work in a structured way, have an overview and independently find solutions in daily life, while ensuring a safe experience for donors.

Your tasks – patient apheresis (J.B. Winsløws Vej 4)

In patient apheresis you will, among other things, work with

  • therapeutic apheresis of patients
  • stem cell harvest of patients in need of autologous stem cell transplantation
  • leukapheresis (with a view to CAR-T treatment or photopheresis)

Therapeutic apheresis is selective removal of plasma, leukocytes or erythrocytes from patients with acute illness. The removed components are usually replaced with corresponding blood components or human albumin. Treatments take place in the patients’ ward area and are performed either via peripheral venous catheters, which are placed ultrasound-guided, or via a central venous catheter.

The tasks require you to remain calm in complex clinical situations, be solution-oriented and able to make professionally justified decisions in close collaboration with the responsible physician and the rest of the team.

Working hours

Stærmosegårdsvej 6 – donor apheresis

The work is performed from 7:00–20:00 on weekdays and 8:00–17:00 on weekends and holidays, typically in shifts of 8–9 hours.

J.B. Winsløws Vej 4 – patient apheresis

The work is performed from 7:00–20:00 every day of the week.

There will be on-call shifts from home following daytime shifts Monday–Friday as well as on-call shifts from home on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 8:00–20:00.

Flexibility regarding shifts and tasks is necessary, and we emphasize that you can plan and prioritize your tasks independently within the agreed framework.

We would like you to

  • have a health science education, e.g., biomedical scientist, nurse, social and health care assistant or ambulance technician
  • have experience with blood sampling and preferably knowledge of tapping of blood components
  • can work independently, take responsibility and make decisions in consultation with the physician
  • are solution-oriented and focused on what can be done within the professional and safety frameworks
  • remain calm and maintain overview – even when it is busy or when unforeseen situations arise
  • have good collaboration skills and communicate clearly with donors, patients and colleagues
  • are service-oriented, so donors and patients always meet with friendliness, respect and accommodation
  • have a good sense of humor and contribute positively to the working environment
  • are flexible regarding both working hours and switching between tasks and locations
  • thrive in smaller teams and within limited physical spaces

We offer

  • a thorough theoretical and practical training in donor apheresis and patient apheresis
  • an attractive workplace with opportunities for both professional and personal development
  • a team where quality, responsibility, overview, flexibility, cooperation, communication, curiosity and good humor are highly valued
  • a high professional level and close collaboration with experienced colleagues and doctors
  • engaged colleagues who help each other and value independence and initiative

You will become part of a team where the focus is to give donors the experience of feeling welcome and valuable – while ensuring safe and professional treatment of our patients.
