Experienced substitute sought for a team around a child with autism in Holstebro

Do you have solid experience with autism, and do you thrive with an active outdoor life? Then you may be our new relief worker.

We are seeking a stable and engaged relief worker who can step in on the team as needed.

You will become part of the team around a child with autism in Holstebro. The child needs support that creates structure, security and predictability. Therefore relevant experience with autism is an important prerequisite for the role.

About the task

As a relief worker you become part of the fixed team and step in during holidays, illness and other absence. The assignment takes place in the family's home.

Shifts are primarily after school and on weekends and are agreed in close cooperation with the family and ActivCare's team leader. A large part of the time is spent outdoors, as the child loves nature and trips in the family's electric-powered cargo bike. You must therefore thrive with an active outdoor life in changing weather.

Shifts as relief

· Shifts offered as needed due to holidays, illness and other absence on the team

· On weekdays the shifts take place after school and typically last a couple of hours. The times are arranged in consultation with the family.

· On weekends the family prefers shifts of 4–8 hours.

· As a relief worker you must be able to help both on weekdays and weekends when the regular staff cannot.

Start date will be agreed further, and we hire when we have found the right match.

About the child

The child

· is sound-sensitive and needs calm and predictable environments

· communicates without verbal language, so you must be able to read signals, observe and meet the child calmly and clearly

· is motivated by recognizable routines, clear structure and positive support

· loves nature, outdoor activities and trips in the family's electric cargo bike

· needs close guidance and supervision, both at home and on outings

The task also includes

· support for personal and daily routines

· a calm, respectful and persistent approach when care tasks are challenging

We are looking for someone who

· has relevant experience with autism so you can provide the right support and security for the child

· understands how to communicate with children without verbal language

· works calmly, structured and relationship-building

· is clear, predictable and can adapt to changing needs

· thrives being outdoors in all kinds of weather

· is stable and flexible regarding shifts

Your professional background could be

· unskilled with documented relevant experience with autism (employed as a disability helper)

· pedagogue or pedagogical assistant with experience in the autism field

· social and health helper or social and health assistant with relevant experience with autism

The position does not include health care tasks.
