About the job
Do you want to develop solutions that make a difference – and at the same time be part of a house where film, culture and technology go hand in hand?
At the Danish Film Institute we are looking for an experienced software developer who wants more than just writing good code. You will have the opportunity to influence our digital solutions, take technical responsibility and work closely with colleagues who are passionate about preserving, communicating and developing Danish film culture.
About the job
We are in the midst of an exciting digital development, modernizing our platforms and core systems and building several of our solutions internally. This means you will have real influence on both technology, architecture and the solutions we create.
As a software developer with us you will be an important part of a small, experienced development team where there is a short path from idea to decision, and where your professional input makes a difference.
You will work with both further development and modernization of our central systems. You are involved all the way – from analysis and solution design to programming, implementation and ongoing improvements.
You will have a role with technical responsibility, influence and varied challenges.
Your tasks are broad and include among other things
- Development and modernization of our core systems and digital platforms.
- Design and development of databases, integrations, APIs and web applications.
- Technical analysis, architecture and selection of solutions in collaboration with the team.
- Automation and optimization of workflows that create value for our users.
- Brainstorming with colleagues and partners about how technology best supports the Institute for Film’s tasks.
You will work with systems that support some of the Film Institute’s most important activities – from our extensive film database and Cinematek’s program planning to the film archive and our open API that makes film data available to the outside world.
You will need to find solutions that not only function technically but also help preserve and make film history accessible.
Our technological foundation is primarily based on Microsoft technologies, including C#, .NET, Blazor and MS SQL. We also work with integrations and web services and deliver data and content to web solutions, including the Drupal platform, in collaboration with external suppliers.
You will become part of our technical team and work closely with two other software developers. We place emphasis on professional sparring, knowledge sharing and the freedom to find good, durable solutions.
We are a small team, and that means you get the opportunity to have an impact on both the solutions and the way we work. You will have responsibility and independence, but you will never face the challenges alone.
You also get a broad network within the organization and work closely with project managers, professional specialists and users. Therefore it is important that you are curious about the reality in which our systems must operate, and can translate needs and ideas into solutions that create real value.
What we offer
We know that exciting technical tasks are important – but so are the frameworks around the work.
At the Film Institute we offer
- Influence and responsibility: You will play a central role in the development of our systems and have the opportunity to shape the technical solutions.
- Technical variety: You will work with different technologies, integrations, architectures and complex problems.
- Meaningful work: Your solutions support Danish film culture, film dissemination and the preservation of our shared film heritage.
- A special working environment: You will become part of a cultural institution with engaged colleagues, creative disciplines and a shared passion for film.
- Room for life outside work: We offer flexible working hours, the possibility of remote work and a 37-hour work week including lunch break.
- Good terms of employment: Including a good pension scheme and a focus on a healthy balance between work and leisure.
And of course there is something special about going to work somewhere where film and culture are part of everyday life.
About you
We imagine that you are an experienced software developer who thrives on taking responsibility and enjoys understanding both the technology and the purpose behind the solutions you develop.
You don’t need to know everything from day one. The most important is that you have a solid technical toolkit, are curious and want to contribute to our digital development.
We hope that you
- Have several years of professional experience with software development and are familiar with developing and maintaining mission-critical systems.
- Have solid experience with MS .Net, Blazor, MS SQL, Visual Studio and Git.
- Enjoy working with code, databases, integrations and technical problem solving.
- Have an eye for good software architecture, quality and durable solutions.
- Thrive with independent responsibility, but also value professional sparring and collaboration.
- Can translate complex needs into simple, pragmatic and well-functioning solutions.
- Communicate fluently in Danish, both orally and in writing.
You are probably educated as a computer scientist, data technologist, software engineer or similar, but your practical experience and your competencies are more important than your exact formal title.
It is an advantage if you have an interest in film, culture or digital cultural offerings – but the most important is that you want to use your expertise in an organization with a special purpose.
At the Danish Film Institute you will have the opportunity to combine your technical experience with work that goes beyond the systems themselves.
You will become part of a workplace where technology helps create access to film, knowledge and culture – and where there is room for both professional depth, good ideas and life outside work.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Employment terms
The position is a full-time role with employment under the LC/CO10 collective agreement and the state-wide PROSA IT employees' association agreement.
You will be placed in salary grade 2 or 3 depending on your experience, with the possibility of negotiating a qualification allowance.
The employment area is the Danish Film Institute.
