A permanent position as an occupational therapist at Hospitalsenhed Midt, Ward 5, Hammel Neurocenter Regional Hospital is available for filling from January 1, 2027. The position is initially 37 hours per week.

Is it you we are looking for?

  • You have respect for others' professionalism and a desire for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • You want to contribute to a good working environment.
  • You thrive in a dynamic workplace where adjustments and developments in relation to the patient caseload are ongoing, and where research and development are an integrated part of the work.

If you can relate to these four statements, you may be our new colleague at Hammel Neurocenter Regional Hospital.

As an occupational therapist employed in Ward 5, you will get

  • An exciting and challenging job with the possibility of a varied workday that you can influence.
  • A department with a high level of mono- and multidisciplinary practice. You will have about 50 engaged and competent colleagues who are passionate about neurorehabilitation. Of these, 8 are occupational therapists.
  • Room to continually reflect on your own practice, which contributes to strengthening the professional development of the department.
  • A thorough introduction during the first 6 months.

Subspecialty for Early Neurorehabilitation

Subspecialty for Early Neurorehabilitation accepts patients immediately after the acute brain injury has stabilized. The patients are diagnosed, monitored and treated while early neurorehabilitation is initiated. In addition to early neurorehabilitation we focus on patients who require highly specialized neurorehabilitation focusing on cognitive and sensorimotor issues. Therefore the ward is versatile and offers a broad professional scope.

We work in multidisciplinary teams around the individual patient. The primary team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, social and health care assistants and the treating physician. The team is supplemented by speech therapists, neuropsychologists, social workers and dietitians.

In addition to work in the clinic here, occupational therapists and physiotherapists cover daily patient treatment on the neurointensive rehabilitation ward in Silkeborg – NR. They therefore have shifts at both our clinic and in Silkeborg. You should see yourself as part of this task solution – with less on-call duty, but with shared responsibility for the neurorehabilitation effort.

Essential occupational therapy tasks at the Clinic for Early Neurorehabilitation always take their starting point in an activity-based focus - ADL training, development of neuro-pedagogical strategies, assessment and treatment of communication difficulties and not least maintaining focus on motivating activity and participation.

A core task is dysphagia assessment and treatment aimed at establishing a safe eating and swallowing function. In many cases the patients here are admitted with cuffed tracheal tubes. As an occupational therapist you will, after training, be responsible, among other things, for the development of tube plans. Some of our patients have impaired consciousness, where an occupational therapy intervention focuses on establishing early contact.

The patient group may encompass complex physical and/or cognitive problems and therefore often requires a high degree of creativity in applying your occupational therapy approach to the patient's neurorehabilitation.
