About the job
Are you a machine- or mechanical engineer, and do you thrive on challenging and varied projects? Do you want to put your skills to use in our department for special constructions and make your mark on landmark works such as movable bridges or help future-proof Denmark against storm surge events?
And if you’re looking for your next job with more responsibility or more varied tasks within your professional field, we need you in our centrally located team on Østerbro in Copenhagen.
Professional community and diverse tasks
You will become part of the team for special constructions, based at our office on Øster Allé. You will have a daily life with about 20 colleagues, all of whom are engineers or building designers. We have different professional backgrounds and levels of experience, and we see this as a clear strength, as it increases creativity and leads to better solutions for the projects. We take pride in helping each other and making each other better.
In the team for special constructions we identify ourselves as design engineers. We create specialized solutions primarily for the construction and civil engineering industry for very diverse projects. Common features for them all are that they are either characterized by movable elements and/or dynamic loads - often with difficult geometries that make each project interesting and challenging. This can include, for example, movable bridges, coastal protection works including sluices, pumping stations, lifting and installation tasks, but also highly specialized constructions entirely outside the ordinary.
Most recently we have completed the following projects
- Detailed design of a cable service platform for a suspension bridge.
- Conversion of a drive line to a bascule bridge for road and rail.
- Transport and installation of ~700 t ship engine in a test hall.
- Conversion of a larger movable bridge in Copenhagen Harbour.
- Renovation of lock gates.
- Design of fender structures (offshore).
- Root cause analysis of a failure on a wire rope (offshore).
We work project-oriented, and typically execute projects as either contractor or client’s advisor. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the client and in project groups, where you will spar with like-minded colleagues and collaborate with engineers with other areas of expertise. We carry out projects that are managed internally within the team and we also support projects in other departments of the company.
Your daily life and responsibilities
As our new colleague you will experience that you will be given tasks you have not seen before. Therefore it is essential that you are curious by nature and see it as a positive thing to be challenged by problems and tasks that require you to move into areas you have not worked with before.
Your daily tasks will include, among other things, the following
- conceive, calculate and dimension buildable solutions for complex constructions and machine elements with dynamic influences and movements.
- preparation of calculation reports and design documentation.
- manage and coordinate tasks and projects as project lead on mid-sized projects or as technical leader on large projects.
- performance of professional supervision.
- be a sparring partner for your colleagues – especially the young engineers at the office.
It is important that you take pride in delivering technically strong and well-thought-out solutions with an eye for detail, and that you can maintain a good overview of tasks and deadlines.
Your qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must enjoy project-oriented work. It is therefore important that you have good collaboration skills and appreciate working closely as a team where we create good results through knowledge sharing and a proactive approach to projects.
We would like you to have 5-10 years of relevant experience with large structures and machines that form the basis of everyday work.
In addition we expect that
- You are educated as a machine- or mechanical engineer with a specialization in structures.
- You have a good static understanding.
- Experience with hydraulics, pump technology and/or electrical and control systems
- You have good written and spoken Danish and English communication skills.
- It is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have experience with:
- FEM analyses (preferably in ANSYS, Robot or Sophistik).
- Interventions in existing constructions.
- Machinery directive
- Eurocodes
- DNV standards.
- EN 1090
- CE marking
- Supervision and FAT/SAT
If you have qualifications that go beyond the above, we are open to adapting the responsibilities to your experience level and qualifications if it creates value for the team and projects.

- Flexible working hours.
- Company pension scheme.
- Salary according to qualifications.
