About the job

Do you want to help shape the future in the field of nature and water?

We are in the process of assembling a new team whose main task is to handle tasks within the Nature and Water area in Nordfyns Municipality.

We are looking for one to two experienced employees who are well versed in case processing, particularly under the Nature Protection Act.

We are in the process of putting together the team that will take on the future tasks within nature and water. Therefore we are very focused on what you can contribute – both professionally and personally.

We know the tasks. But we believe that the best solutions come when we start from the people we hire. Therefore you will also have the opportunity to influence your task portfolio. As a subject expert in the area, you will also have your competencies used broadly when colleagues naturally seek sparring from you.

Room for personal development

If you have the courage and ambition to take on a leading professional role – either from the start or in due course – this is something we can work towards together. Your ambitions and well-being are important to us, so we create the framework for a good and long collaboration.

A typical workday

You start at the Town Hall in Otterup, pour a cup of coffee, and review the day’s tasks with colleagues.

The morning may include a professional assessment of a case regarding protected nature. A colleague has sought your sparring on the case. At 10 o’clock we gather for five minutes of stretching before continuing the work.

Later you stand by a stream or in a natural area together with a landowner. Back at the office you review with colleagues a case where nature, legislation, and various interests must come together in a higher unity.

Another day you might sit with a case presentation for the political committee. Here you get the opportunity to use your professional knowledge to bring forward essential perspectives and describe possibilities and consequences.

About 80% of the work takes place in the office and 20% in the field. Therefore the job suits someone who thrives with both deep dives at the desk and with wearing rubber boots.

What will you work with within streams and/or nature?

  • You bring your professional knowledge into play broadly in case processing within terrestrial and aquatic nature, e.g. § 3 cases, exemptions, and concrete nature-based assessments
  • Assessment of the impact on protected nature, Natura 2000 areas and Annex IV species
  • Field inspections
  • Cross-collaboration on local plans, building cases, etc.
  • Preparation of case presentations for the political committee, where you use your expertise to illuminate the matter

You must be comfortable with both delving into legislation and professional assessments – and with going out to meet the people whom our work affects.

Who are you?

You may come from a position in the consultancy sector, a municipality, or the state.

The most important is that you have a strong professional foundation in working with nature and water and have several years of experience in case processing under the Nature Protection Act.

You enjoy communicating your expertise in writing and find it exciting to make complex problems clear and understandable.

You are curious, can collaborate with many different people, and want to find solutions in a reality where nature, water, agriculture, residents, and politics sometimes pull in different directions.

Who will your colleagues be?

We are about 20 colleagues with high professional standards and a great willingness to help.

We spar a lot with each other, cover for one another, and use our different competencies. There is room here to nerd out on legislation, discuss professional dilemmas, and share knowledge across disciplines.

Some days the office is so quiet you can almost hear the legislation creak. Other days the office hums with sparring, good laughs, and professional discussions.

We have our own earworm plant, which has somehow become a shared project.

We take our tasks seriously. But we also think it should be pleasant to go to work.

What do colleagues say about your leader?

If you ask us, he is first and foremost a human being with a heart in the right place. He is easy to talk to, always ready with a smile, and genuinely interested in how we are doing.

We know he has our backs, which gives great security in daily life. And he can be a bit distracted sometimes. A conversation with him sometimes takes a couple of interesting detours along the way.

What else do you get with us?

  • Option for remote work – typically 1-2 days per week
  • Flexible working hours
  • A good pension scheme
  • 6 weeks of vacation
  • Health scheme
  • Great opportunities for further training
  • Delicious lunch arrangement prepared by Henriette for us
  • A workplace with high professionalism and high psychological safety

The expected salary range will be disclosed at the first interview. The final salary is determined based on your qualifications and previous work experience and after concrete negotiation with the professional organization.
