Professionally strong urban planner for Ballerup Municipality

You as an urban planner will be responsible for translating the Municipal Council's strategic goals into concrete plans and for creating momentum and coordinating cooperation with colleagues, developers and other stakeholders. The position is therefore for you who can maintain an overview of the professional field and navigate safely in professional, administrative and political decision-making processes.

You will be responsible for driving local plan processes from the initial dialogue to the final adoption of the plans. This requires solid knowledge of the Planning Act and understanding of other relevant legislation. We prioritize early dialogue with both developers and relevant professional areas in the municipality, so legal frameworks, professional considerations, feasibility and coherence with the subsequent authority handling are incorporated from the start.

Your main tasks

• Prepare local plans for both larger development areas and smaller projects
• Project manager on larger comprehensive plans
• Contribute to the upcoming revision of the municipal plan
• Planning professional sparring on concrete projects and inquiries from citizens and developers
• Involve relevant disciplines in planning and coordinate planning work across the organization.
• Prepare case presentations, notes and other planning professional material for political consideration.

Your competencies

• At least 3 years of practical experience with local planning
• Have a relevant education, e.g. architect, landscape architect, engineer or surveyor
• Work independently, structured and solution-oriented both with own tasks and in cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Communicate complex issues clearly and precisely both in writing and orally
• Contribute actively to the professional and collegial community
• Have experience with cross-disciplinary issues, including environmental assessment, noise, rainwater management, wastewater and traffic
• Solid knowledge of the Planning Act and an understanding of basic administrative law rules and principles
• Experienced project manager with the ability to create momentum in larger, complex and cross-disciplinary projects with many stakeholders.

You will become part of Team Planning in the Center for City and Environment – a strong team of seven consisting of traffic and city planners, as well as a student assistant. The team is part of the Center for City and Environment, which together consists of 115 employees with different professionalities and tasks.

Hiring process and salary

The starting date is January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible.

Interviews will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. A possible second interview will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

The position is initially 37 hours and is a permanent position.

We as a rule offer salary and employment terms according to the collective agreement for academics in municipalities and according to principles of local pay formation and after agreement with the negotiating organization.

The salary range for the position is 32,573 DKK – 49,990 DKK per month (37 hours)

The salary depends on a negotiation between the manager and the professional organization that has the right to negotiate for the current agreement.

Salary composition depends on your education, documented seniority and qualifications.
